A Beautiful Time

This album finds Willie Nelson in fine voice--strong, clear, and full of feeling. After listening to it many times over several days, I believe that the songs are written and sung as a beautiful and heartfelt goodbye to the life he has lived and generously shared with his many fans. Every song is a reflection on some aspect of what he has experienced, tempered by what he has felt and learned living his life, even extending to a declaration that "I don't go to funerals, and I won't be at mine."He seems at peace with his place in time, which is running short for a 92-year old. As a baby boomer born in the late '40s, I understand in a very personal way every song--each verse a reflection about the meanings of our lives, and an appreciation of our experiences that make us our unique selves. He describes a commonality of experiences which binds us together as we face the end of our time on earth. It is heartbreakingly beautiful, but also comforting In the universality of his message. Willie is leaving us a very fine farewell.

He’s been a artist I’ve followed for years. Now he is 90 years old this is a tribute to friend and family. His songs are saying something about his mortality. Always one of my favorites.

Willie has done it again. He is a legend and just keeps putting out great music.

I'm a Old WILLIE NELSON Fan 4 decades, he's 89 (90 on 4-29-23) and even though his Voice has gotten a more ruff, we still Love him. I always pick up on any CD that he puts out, hard 2 find them where I live, so once again, I hav 2go 2 Amazon 2 buy. EVERY TIME I say I Won't buy fr Amazon cause the CD case is ALWAYS CRUSHED n CRACKED in a few places, then the CD becomes Dislodged from the snap case, then BANGS AROUND During shipping n ends up SCRATCHED. It's hard 2 tell Who's Fault it is that it gets Cracked, it could b the wonderful USPS machines or mail person, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS IF Amazon would PACK MUSIC CDs in more than that Paper thin plastic envelope, it might b Protected Better. Willie's music gets 5Stars but Amazon only 4. The SCRATCHED disk sounded good so far. But maybe this will B The Last Time. PLEASE FIX THIS AMAZON, OTHERS HAV COMPLAINED ALSO.

From his own unmistakable songs to works by Leonard Cohen and the Beetles this is a particularly fine collections of Willie's work. Beware of "earworm" after listening to the CD a few times!

Willie Nelson's "A Beautiful Time" demonstrates why the beloved Texan is on the 'Mount Rushmore' of the collective American Songbook. This intimate album is a reflection on a life well lived, infused with the sagacity of a man who has truly lived it and is still going strong at the age of 89. Willie's unique ability to deliver a song has only improved with age. When Willie interprets a song he is able to stamp his imprimatur on the material as very few artists on the planet have ever been able to do. For me, the highlight of this superb production is "Dreamin' Again" with an elegant, poetic poignancy that is completely authentic without being cloying or sentimental. "Dreamin' Again" should become a timeless evergreen in the extraordinary musical lexicon of Willie Nelson. Trigger, Willie's well-known guitar, gets a much-deserved spotlight on this track. I couldn't recommend this album more highly. For all ages and tastes. Whether vinyl or CD, this album is a perfect Christmas gift.

Hätte diese Platte wirklich gerne in meine Sammlung übernommen, aber leider wiesen das erste wie auch das als Ersatz gelieferte Exemplar Schraulgeräusche an mehreren identischen Stellen auf dem linken Kanal auf. Das zweite Exemplar hatte dazu noch einen heftigen Höhenschlag und das Innersleeve war durchstoßen. Sehr enttäuschend. Nur wegen der guten Musik gebe ich trotzdem drei Sterne.
