Is this knife legal to carry?

I have carried a Victorinox Explorer or similar sized Victorinox knife daily since 1981. Except for air travel and some secured venues which do not permit bringing it into an airport or an event, I have never had any trouble. You can put it in checked baggage with no problem but not carry-on luggage or on your person past airport security. Sensible people realize this is a pocket knife and not a weapon. Anyone who has intent to harm and is trained, would not need a pocket knife to accomplish their evil intent.

Has anyone purchased one recently? Did it have the old magnifying glass?

Which old magnifying glass do you mean? If you mean the glass lens one, it has been out of production for many years (2004). The two-piece style plastic magnifier has also been gone for several years and was replaced with the current single-piece clear plastic version in 2012, although there are still a few of old-stock two-piece ones (gray plastic frame) floating around the market. :-)

Is there already the pin in the splint?

There is no pin included, but there is room for one. I took one from my Victorinox Compact and it fit fine.
