Romeo and Juliet: Third Series (The Arden Shakespeare Third Series, 13)

WOW! Romeo and Juliet, Arden 3, Kindle. Iʻm prepping to do design work for an upcoming production, and this is SOLID. I have both the hard copy, and the Kindle. The Kindle offers hypertext to the Arden notes/glosses, and back again to the text. I am able to switch back and forth easily from my design process to the script - i wish ALL the Arden 3ʻs were available on Kindle.

Very in depth. Anyone who chooses to study this play for a role (which I did) or as a piece of literature - this works great for both. So, so helpful as an actor.

The best edition of R&J that I have seen in a long time. Footnotes are manageable and informative.

I love the notes in the Arden edition. I ordered it because I was directing a high school production of R and J. We had other resources, but always went to this one first and it usually did the trick. Questions abound when working on this wonderful play and it is such a pleasure to get thorough answers at the flick of the page.

The introduction provides a thorough production history.The in-depth glosses are useful to actor and reader in unpeeling layers of textual interpretation.

The footnotes and the essays are solid. While one would like more perhaps, they are solid. The Arden Third Series adds greatly to the understanding of the plays. Other editions may seem friendlier, but they are much less helpful.

Arden always has the best notes, this R&J is no different
