Very nice pencil. But…
This is a very nice pencil. It works well and has a nice feeling of solidity and does not flex. I like the all metal grip. My one gripe is that the metal grip screws into the plastic upper body of the pencil. I saw some reviews that complained that that was a weak point and would tend to break at the plastic screw threads. Interestingly, the Graphgear 300, a model down from the 500, has an all metal grip too, but it screws into the brass barrel of the pencil mechanism, not into plastic. I own the GraphGear 300 and like it a lot, but I needed another pencil and I bought this one assuming this was a little bit better in build quality to justify the extra couple bucks. But it’s not. And I can see where it could break at those plastic threads if it gets dropped or over-tightened. So frankly, I’m a bit baffled why this is considered the “better” model, and I would certainly buy the 300 again instead of this one because of the build quality.

Instantly became my favorite mechanical pencil
I got this a few days ago and it almost instantly became my favorite mechanical pencil. I only have a few to compare it to (Staedtler 925-35, Pentel P205 Sharp, and Zebra M301), but I feel like for long writing sessions the GG500 blows all of them out of the water. As much as I love the Staedtler, it's very heavy and can feel tiring after a while. But the GG500, with most of the weight near the tip, just feels like it's effortlessly floating on the paper. I think the wider grip also contributes to how comfortable it is to write with. The lead indicator is also a nice touch, and is the main reason why I prefer this model over the PG525 since almost all of my pencils have different lead in them. I think my only complaint with this pencil is that when putting the eraser cap back on, you have to push it down pretty hard, which advances the lead. Admittedly I don't use the built-in eraser very often so it's not a huge deal for me. Overall I love this pencil, it just feels amazing to write with and the price is fantastic

Great pencil, just not every type of lead hardness indicators
Really good pencil, probably my favorite from Pentel other than the GG1000, and def better than the standard American GG500, cause this is all sleek and silver and has the big 0.7 on the top and more matte which tells me it’s more premium lowkey compared to the American GG500, plus 0.7 is a great size and I’m pretty sure at least in the USA the most common but in Japan it think 0.5 is more common cause every time I go to a Japanese store they have a ton of 0.5 and not a ton of really anything else. And I doubt it’s any different if going to Japan irl. But also a nitpick for me is that the hardness window doesn’t have a ton of variety, like your basic necessities are there but not the super uncommon specialty ones. I also really like how this pencil and front heavy or weighted toward the front. It also feels great in the hand as the metal knurling feels so satisfying to hold and not too skinny and not too wide at least for me.

Same great pencil, just a different color option.
One of my favorite pencils. I will always stand by this design. I just had to buy it because it was a different color option! (I have it in all different lead sizes and barrel colors). You can’t go wrong with this. I will say though, one of the things that made this pencil so preferred by drafters and engineers was the quick reference of line weight to barrel color. I have this pencil in two sizes, both normally coded as the solid mustard barrel and blue barrel, yet with this new color variation, the main barrel is silver, and the mustard or blue is now an accent color. It takes a little getting used to (less intuitive), but still great to see the design evolve.

I really like this pentel pencil
Fantastic pencil. I am always on the lookout for a good mechanical pencil for fine point lead. This one does not disappoint. It is great. The lead flows into it's spot and it doesn't seem to break inside the pencil. Also the tip seems to not get bent in my bag, which has been an issue with my other pencils.

Perfect

Works like a dream
A mate recommended this to me, i'd been looking fro a new mechanical pencil and i have to say it has a wonderful consistency. every time i use it i get the lines i want. I had toyed to go cheap with the set of 6 pencils and leads for an extra few quid but resisted and bought the quality. It just feels right
