Beautiful and Heartbreaking
Another amazing book by Scarlett St. Clair! Queen of Myth and Monsters solidified why Isolde is one of my all time favorite female book characters!Picking up where King of Battle and Blood left off, we are following Isolde as she discovers who she really is, or was. Not only that, but she is still dealing with the betrayal of her father and her people. She’s married to Adrian, the Blood King and the most powerful being alive. Their enemies will do whatever it takes to end him, so they’re going after the one person he cares about most, Isolde. Not only are Adrian and Isolde dealing with outside forces trying to tear them apart, but they’re dealing with a traitor in their inner circle…and let me tell you, my jaw was on the floor when it was revealed who had betrayed them. Then there’s the goddess Dis, Adrian’s creator, who sees Isolde as a threat. But even in the face of all the betrayal and threats, Isolde is still a QUEEN, and she’s on a mission, not just to free the people of her mother’s homeland, but to seek revenge on those who have wronged her. This book made me feel so many emotions. Their relationship was put to the test so many times. Oh, and I cried a time or two. There were so many twists and turns, and I wasn’t sure where the book was going to go next. And that ending…I was not ready for that huge revelation! I loved the character development though, for some more than others of course.I can’t wait for the next book in the Adrian and Isolde saga!

An unsuspected continuation good none the less
I started this book a bit disappointed because it felt slow in the beginning, and I just didn't get a good sense of the direction we were going in. However, the book does pick up, and I felt that once it did, it just kept getting better and better, so if you start the book and it seems slow, just keep pushing. I did read a review about a complaint of there being just sex and fighting between Adrian and Isolde which there is a lot of that but I think it highlights an important part of their dynamic they are very different in their views and motives for how things should be done yet they still compliment eachother. This book was also different from the first in the sense that I thought I had an idea of who Adrian was but really he is a lot more tormented than I thought and not as untouchable as I precieved him to be the first book. This really added dimension to his character for me, but I can see how some people may not like that development into his character. I did appreciate Isolde's growth. I always liked her character, and I still do. I can also empathize with her wanting to become stronger to protect herself from always be targeted and her people. All in all I think it was a great continuation, and I look forward to the next book.

I liked the first book a lot but was not crazy about this one
The first book in the series was really good and I liked it a lot. I was rather disappointed with this one though. It felt as if it was lacking quite a bit unfortunately, compared to the first one. Continuing the story of Isolde and her quest to take care of her kingdom and self, it felt more like a filler book than anything. It ends on kind of an abrupt cliff hanger. I love Scarlett St Claire's writing and I understand that this book was most likely just setting the stage for the next one. I think part of what threw me off about it was the way Isolde was treating Adrian throughout it. Her behaviour towards him seemed like a bit of a 180 from the first book. But I am still excited to see what happens in the next.

Take Back You Power
When sis said she was writing a book about morally grey characters. SHE MEANT THAT ISH. I absolutely do not trust anyone, heck at this point depending on which way the wind blows idk if I even trust Isolde! This is masterful. The feminine rage in this book as palpable. I know this hurt, the anger, this hopelessness. I know this desire to snatch back every ounce of power and joy that has been stolen and siphoned away from us for millennia! St. Clair channels that energy and what you are left with is the “reality” that sometime the only way to fight evil is to become a monster. That sometimes to be the hero you have to become the bad guy! This book is more fantasy than romantasy compared to book one. It isn’t quite as fast paced but you learn so much and now that more has been revealed the possibilities for book 3 are endless. I am once again in awe of St. Clair’s writing and storytelling. There is a clear message but it is woven so beautifully into the story. Long live the queen!!

Liked Isolde but didn’t love…
I was looking forward to this book so much, and I liked it but I didn’t love it, the ending of it all kind of just didn’t wow me and left me disappointed. I also felt that the character development and/or growth could’ve been done better. I enjoyed the book and storyline just wished for a more wow factor! I’d still recommend this book to others to read! I just prefer the first one to this!

An emotional epic fantasy!
This was a phenomenal sequel to The King of Battle and Blood. Adrian and Isolde's story became so much more complicated with more secrets and betrayals. The plot was not and at all predictable and refreshingly unique. The twists and reveals took me by surprise. And I definitely got heartbroken and emotional more than once.I loved Isolde's character growth here. Even without magic, she became a force to be reckoned with and love that she stood her ground.I really enjoyed getting the back story for a lot of the side characters, showing that no one is just good or bad, light or dark. There's a shade of gray in everyone. The story did end in a cliffhanger of sorts. And I can't wait till the next one comes out.I am a fan for life after this series! Would recommend it to everyone!

Character Development
This is still the love story of Adrian and Isolde, but there are definitely struggles and a big challenge coming up for them. I hated Killian in book one, but now he’s attached himself to my heart and I adore him. We are introduced sort of to Dis, who I dislike greatly!! I can’t really mention anyone else because it’ll give too much away but I will warn you to guard your heart . . .Lots happened in this book, but I think it was more about character development than it was actual events. I’m sure book 3 will go in the other direction and knock us off our butts!

Love it!
Bellissimo. Evidentemente è un libro di "mezzo". Succedono nuove cose, nuovi plot twist, nuovi nodi da snodare. Bello bello bello. Non vedo l'ora che esca il terzo!
