I don't often write reviews of things I buy but think this item deserves it as I'm very pleased with it.First of all, this punch bag isn't as good as a good ceiling mounted, free swinging heavy bag. However if, like me, you'd quite like it if you didn't bring down your garage roof or shake plaster from connected walls, a free standing bag is the only way to go. I have used a very tall free standing bag at my works gym for a while now and frankly wasn't impressed as it is little better than hitting air. Now to this bag. It isn't very tall, I stand 5ft 6inches (168cm) and it comes to just above eyebrow height on me. For me this is fine but taller people may want a taller bag. The base is nice and narrow meaning you can move around the bag easily and strike from a natural distance. So far I have filled the base with water so it rocks a bit but doesn't seem in danger of toppling over, and I hit reasonably hard (if I say so myself). If I want it more solid I may use sand in the future. The striking surface of the bag is about 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter and is covered in very thick, very well stitched faux leather. The punching surface is quite firm. The bag joins to the base by means of a bolted rubber housing which provides the bags 'flex' and It has to be said this flex is minimal. The bag arrived within a couple of days of ordering in two parts one day apart. It requires a little assembly using bolts and a spanner provided that took me about 15 minutes including filling with water.If you want a well made, reasonably priced, medium sized bag that will fit in relatively small area and be strong enough to do an effective training session I think this is hard to beat.

Really disappointed with Gallant. I used to buy there equipment frequently. Bare in mind I fight at Bantamweight (57.5kg) K1. Also bare in mind the base is filled to maximum capacity with sand.•Bag can not manage jabs without substantial movement. Gloves ranging from 10-16oz are just too much for this bag even with light effort at shadow boxing velocity.•The bottom of the bag that connects the bag to the base is too thin for the bit that connect the base and bag together by about 2cm. This is causing the excessive sway motion•I feel uncomfortable approaching this bag at 50% power which prevents consistent training on days away from the gym. I can not even practice technique without concern the rubber which holds the bag in place will snap.Positives• The bottom base is very sturdy. Very, very sturdy when filled with sand however pointless with a connector that attaches the bag to the base attachment•The plug to secure sand or water is perfect no issues•The foam padding of the bag itself and the surrounding leather is strong and on a better frame could easily withstand high level punishment• Attractive lookOverall reviewThis bag does 90% of what it is supposed too and does it very well. The reality is though that 10% that’s missing and needs improvement is the only reason any of us buy the bag in the first place. I regrettably have to rate this two stars because although it has great qualities it just isn’t built or designed effectively for purpose

The media could not be loaded.  This is a really good product for the money I filled mine with just water to test it out and you can see it's pretty sturdy if filled with sand and water you would definitely be able to go quite hard on it im 5-ft 11 and weigh 10 stone 10 and the bag is a good size for me i would definitely recommend this product hope this helped

I ordered the gallant free standing heavy punch bag having read previous good reviews and I must say the Punch bag has not disappointed. The freestanding base means you do not have to mess around with drilling holes in the ceiling.Filled the base with water and its absolutely sturdy. I am not a very big guy at 70 KGs, and the bag is perfect for me.I've only had the bag for a few days, but it appears to be well made.Definitely recommend the bag for home use.
