AXO Black Size 10 Striker 9 to 5 Shoes fuses safety and style with the 5 to 9 shoe. AXO introduces the ultimate urban riding shoe, the 5 to 9. It is built for maximum comfort on and off the bike. The 5 to 9 utilizes an innovative BOA closure system instead of the bulky buckles and dangerous laces found on other riding shoes. It features a ratcheting spool and stainless steel laces. BOA technology allows you to find the perfect fit and fine tune it any time you need with a twist of the easy to turn ratchet. When the ride is over, the AXO 5 to 9 is just as easy to take off with an amazingly simple quick release opening system. It is constructed of abrasion resistant PU coated action leather. The 5 to 9 comes equipped for the ride with an ergonomic ankle protection and a durable shift guard.

Almost as good as the original AXO Strikers.
Almost as good as the original AXO Strikers.1. The only real difference being that the originals have a much more rigid sole and give you a greater sense of protection. This can be a pro or a con. They feel slightly less protective, but may be easier for some to walk on.2. These have an advantage over the originals in that they don't have that 'leather creak' whenever you take a step.3. They're less clunky/big than the original Strikers.4. The dials being relocated to the front/side makes it FAR less likely that your pants will hang up on them, displaying to all who see you, that you don't use laces. So, if you like to keep such a feature subtly under the radar, these have that advantage over the original design.5. Unless you have very thick ankles or 'cankles' this new design will never get as tight around the ankles as the originals were capable of. This can be a pro or con, based on preference.6. This new design is so sleek and sexy that you can sometimes get away with wearing them as 'dress shoes' to the office. The photos don't do them justice. All factors considered, my preference leans slightly toward the originals, but only because I like my sole to be very rigid and the boot to feel more solid. The originals were of such a solid build quality that just walking around on pavement made it sound as though you weighed twice what you do. That's how hard/tough they were.I still have a 'like new' pair of the originals and this new design fits almost exactly the same, size for size. So if you bought 11s in the old design, get 11s in the new without worry of them being too small or too big.I believe that I'm going to use the 'like new' pair of the originals that I got off of ebay for like $40 and save this pair of the new design for when I need to 'dress UP' for meeting at the office or other such occasions in which I want to ride my bike, but also don't want to risk wearing real dress shoes.Once my pair of the original design wear out, probably in a few years, then I'll make this my only pair of riding boots, at least until something better comes along. I'm happy with my purchase. I cringe whenever I see someone wearing all their gear, but no boots... Just some crappy sneakers that will leave their feet almost instantly upon wrecking.Dress for the slide, not for the ride. :)

Horrible fit and finish
Using the size chart on the manufacturer's website, I calculated I needed a size 10.5. Usually I'm an 11 in everything but I wanted these to be snug. When the 10.5s came, they were huge in every direction. So I returned to Amazon for a size 10, no big deal. Those arrived today and, while the length is good the overall fit is still horrible. The toe box is altogether too big and there's a gap between the top of my foot and where laces would normally be. No way will I be able to properly feel the shifter and brake pedal with these things. Cranking on the Boa system simply made the ankle tighter, the rest felt like a balloon! I don't understand all the positive reviews, I'm suspicious there. Anyway, avoid these would be my suggestion. Overall, the quality of the leather doesn't seem up to snuff either, and they pinched at the closure on my right boot only. Strange.

Good purchase.
I was looking for a shoe that would be convenient and comfortable while providing a measure of safety. Something I could wear while riding on short trips and walk in. I find it difficult to find m/c boots that fit comfortably as I have a wide foot. I took a chance with these as reviews said they were roomier than other brands. Normally I wear an 11.5 so ordered the 12. Out of the box these fit great and we're comfortable although slightly stiff. They broke in nicely and I find them very comfortable, more like a tennis shoe than a boot. They don't provide the full protection of a boot but are a good compromise when ease and comfort are important. I would definitely buy again.

I've been riding for almost 10 years, and finally decided to get a legitimate pair of street biking shoes (before I always wore boots but not specifically designed for biking. I wished I had gotten these before as the dials to tighten them are awesome (if I already have my gloves on I can still tighten them (no tying laces)). I ordered these about a year ago - I commute to work for about 9 months out of the year on my bike, and use the crap out of these - I am hoping that the dials never go bad because I'm guessing then they would be worthless, but so far so good! Fit is fine, Vibram soles are great and grippy. No complaints.
