Fantastic piece of hardware. Save $$$$$ on troubleshooting and downtime.
Worked exactly as described. Put it to use immediately and it worked right out of the box. I can see it literally saving me hundreds of man-hours in troubleshooting. I sent it to a customer who was having issues, did a remote session with him and we immediately captured the error. They had no IT and were novices when it came to networking. Get the USB Version of the tap. I love the ability not to have to get fancy with the capture filters in Wireshark and just use the USB adapter as the default capture interface. You wont regret it.

Better than port Mirroring on a managed switch.
Works as Advertised! I've only used the Wired Tap so far, and haven't had the need to try the USB.This is about the only good way to debug LLDP issues. Many managed switches won't port Mirror the Link Local LLDP packets, or only show one direction of LLDP traffic. But this Sniffer shows both and works great!

Cool (kinda)
I really like this tool for cases where wireshark alone doesn't get you to the connection you need. If you can use wireshark you can use this. The only issue I have with it is that when connected to USB2.0, if more data fkows than USB2.0 can handle there is no indication of packet loss. Note that this only applies to the tap port.UPDATE:Well, I have to lower my rating of this device. I really want to like this thing because there are several situations where it has been quite helpful; however, I've had a few cases where it just appears to block packets. Just today, I was using it to monitor a device as it boots up (DHCP) on my network; however whenever I put it inline with the device it would not boot.

Works great
It does exactly what it's supposed to and we see no discernible speed penalty. I've left it in-line for many weeks and it just keeps running. Haven't used it on a PoE line yet.
