Awesome product
Awesome product. My dad dropped his phone and realized a couple minutes later that it was in a bonfire. The picture shows the back cover which melted a bit. Saved his new phone. He will only use otter box!

The face of disappointment!
Let me start by saying I have always been a devoted fan of OtterBox, purchasing the Defender series for all my family’s cell phones, to include my own. This is the first time when I can honestly say I am extremely disappointed with the product I’ve purchased. Yes, I bought the case knowing that it no longer had a screen, instead, I gave OtterBox the benefit of the doubt and purchased their Alpha Glass Screen protector to go with the new case. I am sad to say the results were still very disappointing. The cost of the two together, $90+.The case - as always the OtterBox Defender series for the Galaxy S8 provide outstanding protection to the phone shell, but that goes without the screen protector portion. Now if you are still going to spend the money and buy the case, then save yourself the time, you are best served by purchasing a soft screen protector. The problem with most hard glass/plastic screen protectors, as it is with the OtterBox Alpha Glass screen protector advertised to work with the OtterBox cases, is that although it provides maximum protection, it also gets caught in the hard plastic edges of the case, which means it will often lift off the phone’s screen, causing the user to have to continually press down hard on the screen to make it function properly. If you are like me, I promise you after a couple of days of doing this, you will more likely to just throw away the hard glass/plastic screen protector because it will be insanely frustrating. So I conclude by saying that without the one feature that has always made OtterBox Defender series unique and worth the cost, the defender series case has just become another case that could easily be purchased from another generic brand for about $10 and get the same exact level of protection. My hope is that the designers of OtterBox reconsider the mistake they have made and re-integrate the screen protector to the defender series; it might take a little ingenuity, but well worth it if you can make it happen. Otherwise, I'm afraid you have just created an overpriced phone case, in addition to losing yet another customer. My Advise to any buyer, don’t waste your money! This $10 worth case is absolutely not worth the $50+ of your hard earned money without the screen protector to go with it. If you pay $50, then know all you are buying is the logo on the outside of the box. The rest, can be purchased for a lot cheaper!Good luck!

Anyone who has a loose outer skin or a dirty case read this!
I'm writing this review mainly because there's a lot of misinformation on the warranty. There are a lot of people who complain that their lighter colored OtterBox gets really dirty or dingy after a few months of use. If you call OtterBox they will honor their warranty and send you a whole new case just because it's dirty. I personally know this and I've talked to other people who have done it. They have very good customer service. There is one thing to keep an eye out for. Some cases are considered special edition cases and others are covered under the OtterBox Global Warranty. It's all in the fine print in the paperwork that comes in the Box. For example, the teal case only has a one year warranty whereas most of the darker colors like black and dark grey have a lifetime warranty. This is because the dark gray ones and black ones will not get as dirty looking.Despite this caveat I personally know that OtterBox will honor the warranty beyond one year on these items. As long as they still make the case they will honor the warranty. If you don't believe me call them yourself. They'll replace cases due to loose outer skin, being dirty, damage from drops, pretty much anything you can imagine.

Lives up to its name, Yes wireless charging works fine, Don't get hung up on the screen protector.
Long time fan of OtterBox products, but very hesitant this time since the OtterBox really interfered with wireless charging on my previous S5 and S4 phones. There were conflicting reviews online as well, some saying it worked and some saying it didn't with the case. I took a chance and ordered this for my S8 and Note8. With the OEM wireless charging stations, it works pretty well. I have to lay the phone flat (cant use the charger in tilted mode), but that works for me and it's very reliable when positioned properly on the charging pad. This also works on my old Tylt charger, which didn't do well at all with the older S5 in an Otterbox Defender. So yes, wireless charging does work with this case on.And the case itself? You should know already since this is the legend that all other rugged cases are compared to, but it does its job great. Already had a few terrifying drops onto floors, paved parking lots, and one gravel driveway, but it did its job and the phone was unscathed. Don't get hung up on the lack of a screen protector; the bumpers at the top and bottom protect the screen pretty well. If I drop it on rough terrain one day I might change my mind, but so far it's been fine. Also it's been very easy to access the side / edge swipe menus with this case.

As per usual, OtterBox nails it.
Great Product !Just like the previous versions, this thing will keep your phone safe. TWO WORDS OF CAUTION. that may help you out:1). make sure to get the one that is for your particular model. The "S8+" cases do not fit on the regular S8, And vice versa. I made the mistake and had to do a return. Just read the description thoroughly because the images are not always spot on.2) Make sure you know what you're getting when it comes to the screen protector model, or No-screen protector model. There are different types to give people options. I use the clip a lot while riding the motorcycle,.and the older versions felt a little more beefy. Though they were the Note4 etc series so that may have something to do with it. But..i strapped the receiver part of the clip+holder to one one of my back pack straps portrait style, with some industrial Velcro, that thing ain't movin'.. and there are a bunch of cool apps you can use to turn your phone into a dashcam/go pro. Ive gotten some cool stuff recorded, people are weird. Have fun out thereAny ways. Very versatile product. I will be buying an OtterBox for my next new phone

Excellent. Bought again. But no screen protection
Outstanding strength and quality...you get what you pay for. I've dropped my phone numerous times without suffering a single blemish. BUT, you do need a gorilla glass to compliment it. No screen protection included. Hence low stars for the touchscreen rating above as it doesn't save your screen.UPDATE. JULY 2021. I bought this again. The original one lasted 6 weeks shy of 3 years. Really it needed replacing about 6 months ago but it did it's job. My S8 is still pristine. Even with no gorilla glass I have no chips or cracks or scratches. The phone has been dropped on numerous types of surface, even face down. The bumpers do their job well. Like I said, you get what you pay for. This second one cost about £3 more than last time but I bought without hesitation.

I bought this in July and I had a crack by the end of Septmber
I know Otterboxes are good cases so I grabbed this one thinking it was a good deal.My previous otterbox had completely encased the screen and was for all intents and purposes bulletproof. However this one is not. The case itself is sturdy and fine but there is a gap (on my phone anyway) where the case and screen protector don't quite meet, it's less than a nails breadth but it was enough something to find it and smash the screen in that 1 tiny area making a spiderweb crack up my phone.

Dont compromise on protection
I started using Otterbox Defender cases since the galaxy s7 and this verion for the s8 does not disappoint. I have smashed both an s7 and s8 (both of which did NOT have the case on) but have never damaged a phones while the case was fitted. Its a good tight fit and makes the phone much more grippy compared to the glass which will slide out of your hand (you have been warned) If you want to protect your phone from drops then you can't do any better than this case.... trust me, i have tried and learnt the lesson the hard way. Dont hesitate just buy

Looked around even purchased but finally came back to Otterbox
Looked around even purchased but finally came back to Otterbox for my S8.My first Otterbox purchased was 4 years back for my iPhone 5s and it looks brand new still today.I have upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S8 and the lack of screen protector made me look elsewhere.Spigen Tough Armour was first and I hated it out of the box .. just seemed so cheap and light. Also tried a Samsung LED Flip case but this didn't offer protection nor was it compatible for use in a car cradle for things such as Google Maps.Stick to what you know and I know Otterbox will keep my S8 as new for the duration of its ownership. I am in the Military and need a rugged case I can rely on.I have added screen protection by way of Alinsea Not Glass Ultra Thin Wet Applied Film.No need to waste hours of research on alternatives stick to Otterbox .. it just works!Apologies to Otterbox for looking elsewhere I am back and it won't happen again!!!

Well made and durable
Great case fits well. I have used the fully enclosed version on my iPhone for many years. I Was initially a little disappointed as it does not have a built in screen protectors do had to buy aftermarket screen protection. Which fits even with the case installed. A great bonus. I have had it fitted now for a month and despite dropping the phone a couple of times, it has proven to be durable and protects well.
