Excellent but with no motion controls
Expensive for what it is but worth it. My JoyCons got Stick Drift so badly that the switch became unplayable. So I bought the Hori Switch Split Pad as an alternative to replacing with more JoyCons. I never liked Joycons. It make my thumbs ache and the joysticks are extremely inaccurate compared to an XBox control. FYI - Does not include Motion controls - In games like Breath of the Wild. I have to plug my joy cons back in to do some of the shrine puzzles for example. The switch uses the Joycon motion controls for this not the console motion sensor. This is a nice balance between a full pro controller while still using handheld mode. The switch is lighter reducing the strain on your hands and the sticks are more precise - Ideal for games like GoldenEye or others that require precise movement. It does take a bit of getting used to - Because the controls make the switch wider the grip feels unatural to start with but getting used to it now. I might actually be able to hit someone in Fortnite with this controller! recommended for those with big hands who want to play more competitively.

Useless, doesn't work properly
Never worked properly, always randomly disconnects, and turbo just randomly stops working.

Okay but could be better.
Out of the box, first impressions are the quality feels very cheap, very lightweight and while this isn't necessary a bad thing for a portable device, for the price point I expected it to feel a little more sturdy. All the face buttons are squishy and don't have that clicky feel to them like more upmarket controllers do (or rather, like the joycons do). 1 star deducted for this. The A, B, X and Y buttons are clicky, responsive and feel of better quality to the other buttons, not sure why this wasn't used on all the other buttons? The actual analog sticks feel in my opinion much better to play with, as they have more height to them so for your movement and especially aiming you can be a lot more precise. I found the switch joycons to be impossible to use as they are far too short and makes aiming practically impossible for some games, even if you mess with sensitivity settings I could never get to a point I felt comfortable with. The Dpad feels fine, though have only used it on the old school mario games via the switch snes games available via the expansion. I will edit this review if I find problem with it but thus far it seems fine. The shoulder buttons work, they aren't terrible but I have become more used to a more well built product. They work, little else to say on these. The extra buttons on the back are clicky and feel responsive, I do not feel like I would accidently press them during gameplay The assign and turbo functions seem to work fine, the turbo has 3 speed modes you can select from. They work, and sure I will use them at some point however I feel they could have done a better job with how you set them and activate them. They aren't hard to set or use, but in the middle of fast paced gameplay i feel like you would be at a massive disadvantage if you wanted to set them on the fly. These feel like it's something you would set and permanently leave it as that setting. My biggest gripe, and this is not something I found in my research, is that unlike the joycons, in the actual switch settings you cannot rebind the buttons which ultimately has turned this into a bit of a waste of money, as I wanted a bit of an all in one controller - to be able to rebind keys for Goldeneye while also having a controller I could use for other games (the controls for Goldeneye hold true to the original game which is fine but if, like me, have spent the years since then playing on modern controls you will find Goldeneyes controls impossible to use no matter what controller config you use from in game) so unfortunately with this you will be unable to do that if that was something you were looking to do. 1 star deducted for that. With the joycons and a bit of faffing you can achieve a more modern approach to the controls for Goldeneye but with how short the analogs are on the switch I still found it impossible. Having played the Xbox release it is a night and day difference, doubtful but I am hoping Nintendo can fix that. Overall, the product does its job but the lack of being able to rebind the controls via the switch settings has kinda killed the excitement I had for the product and now I will still likely have to shell out for the overpriced N64 controller from Nintendo which I was hoping I could avoid by buying this product. If you're looking for a step up to this from the joycons then this does the job, the lack of vibrate really doesn't bother me as I would disable it anyway to save on battery life and the lack of gyro support as a relatively new switch gamer has not become something that is an issue for me as of yet but time will tell. For the pricepoint, is it worth it? Hmm, I would have to say no but given its a Nintendo officially licensed product then its what you can come to expect, overpaying for an underpar product. Picked this up in a sale with a 12% discount but I feel like no more than £40 would have been the max I would be willing to pay, given what I know now. Hope this review helps you make a decision.

This is amazing. Huge upgrade from Joy-Cons. Joy-cons feel finicky and cheap, more like toys. These are robust and comfortable in hand. The analog sticks are also much bigger and feel more accurate. The buttons are nice and clicky and it's nice to be able to connect it in docked mode.

Since it has almost no feature at all (no Bluetooth, no rumble, no gyro, no nfc and it’s made of cheap plastic) it must be priced at most the half of the offered price. 3 STARS for one for the most overpriced joysticks in the market is so fair I believe…
