Excellent textbook for teaching college and graduate levels
I used this to teach both undergraduates and graduates in an emp0loyment la w course. It is fully cited and quite complete. It needs to be supplemented with (court) cases, but that was easily done.

Exceptional Reference
This is an exceptional reference book. I purchased it for my niece, who was working on her MBA.I had already handled a number of federal employment cases over the years. This book certainly wouldn't replace legal research for anyone in the field of law. But it does a commendable job for non-attorneys - even, perhaps, for those in the field of law, who have no knowledge of employment law.I hope that the text will be updated.

I have found myself in a position where I need to be able to back up what I know to be the law with the actual codes describing the particular conduct.

Easy to Understand, Informative Text on Federal Employment Law
This book presents a clear and organized overview of more than 20 major federal employment laws, including the ADA, Title VII, the FMLA, and others. Its main argument is that employers, HR professionals, and managers can understand and comply with complex federal regulations when those laws are explained in simple, accessible language. The book supports this claim by breaking down each law into individual chapters with plain-language summaries, compliance checklists, and guidance on reporting, posting, and recordkeeping requirements. The inclusion of 50-state charts is especially helpful, allowing readers to compare how different states interpret or extend these federal laws. The evidence used is drawn from official statutes and government guidance, rather than from legal cases, which keeps the focus on practical application rather than legal theory. The 7th edition also includes updates on recent legal developments, including federal responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and new court rulings. While this book is not designed as a legal textbook for deep academic study, it works very well as a practical reference guide. It has been widely recommended by professionals in human resources, education, and management for its clarity and usefulness. In my view, it succeeds in its goal of helping readers understand their legal obligations in the workplace, and it is a valuable tool for anyone involved in hiring, supervising, or managing employees.

Excellent Guide
This is a very practical guide to the federal employment statutes. As a lawyer beginning to practice employment law, I often need to do additional research outside of this book. But the book has been a good way for me to educate myself generally about these laws.
