Biblical Foundations of Corporate Worship

This book is such a an excellent, concise summary of what makes up biblical corporate worship. It goes through the essence of worship, the prescribed elements, the liturgical themes, and a variety of other foundational considerations that believers ought to know about their corporate worship to God. It's very accessible, and I highly recommend it for both pastors (particularly those who have recently been thrust into a role of responsibility over worship and need a good primer) and lay persons. A couple years ago, I helped lead a group of students who were about to start leading the youth band at our church through this book, and it was so beneficial for them and me.

This book quickly became my go-to resource for helping people understand the biblical foundation for the proper rhythms in a corporate worship gathering. What are we supposed to do when we gather as a church body? The Bible does have an answer to that question, and Aniol lays out it very succinctly and efficiently. This book is an easy recommendation because it is short and written in a non-academic voice. That doesn't mean Anoil's theological and exegetical work is slack (because it is most definitely not!), but just that he wrote this in a way that should be accessible and understandable by anyone. I think this book is a must for every pastor and worship leader.
