Works with a smartphone, and is excellent for singing apps.
Originally, I purchased the PreSonus Revelator Dynamic USB Microphone. I was very impressed by the sound quality. I am not sure why some called this a toy. Prior to purchasing this mic, I sang on the Starmaker app. Compared to using the mic on my Samsung 24 Ultra, this mic is such a huge improvement vocally. It cuts out the background noise. I even tested it with a fan. The audio was clear.THIS does work with smartphones! However, it did not come with a c to c type USB cord. You will need to purchase that separately in order to use it with an Android. Also, to hear yourself singing or any audio track, you must also have earbuds/headphones inserted into the mic jack. The Dymnamic is perfect for someone wanting to set up a studio where you can quickly plug and unplug your smartphone/device.I have not tried using the software yet, but it appears to have everything I would need as a beginner/intermediate singer. The Dynamic IT is large. I was not anticipating the size. It definitely needs to be used with a mic stand.I also purchased the PreSonus Revelator USB Condenser Microphone, which will be arriving within the next week. The Condenser mic I am hoping will give me more portability. I travel to and from work, and so I am hoping it will be just as easy to use.#Sound Quality, #Plug & Play, #Easy of Use, #Value for Money.

A great value, with unlimited sound potential.
I have several XLR mics and audio interfaces for my podcast and YouTube channel, and I am have used many USB condenser mics over the years as well. I wanted to test out a USB Dynamic mic, but didn't want to buy the cheap-o brand, and didn't want to buy the very expensive brand either. This Presonus fit perfectly in the middle, so it was worth a gamble.I also have both Revelator audio interfaces, so I was familiar with the software behind these devices. But I was curious to see how it integrated with the Dynamic mic. I'm happy to say that you can basically fine tune this mic much like you would with any other PreSonus interface or pre-amp. The only difference is, you can simple just plug this right into your computer without needing another device on your desk. It's semi plug and play if you want. But then you can go into the software and setup your four presets, which are accessible from the microphone itself. You can also adjust the gain right from the mic. Very handy!I'm very happy with the mic, and it will be put to the test for my next few podcast episodes!

Sounds great and is part of my PreSonus studio ecosystem. Build is a bit light feeling.
This is an INITIAL review after a few days. The rating may go lower if I have the quality problems others have had just weeks or months after using this. I'm a musician and home studio enthusiast. Over the decades my studio has morphed a lot. I am also an IT lead and so I work from home a lot and need a good conferencing mic. I can't stand using built in or webcam mics. Ick. I have tried quite a few (Marantz, Behringer, fifine, etc.) and even using my studio mics for vocals (wonderful condensers) going through my audio interface, but that was finicky because of the nature of the condensers in these nicer mics.Out of the box it looks nice and sounds great. The software is a bit to get used to and I'm a long time PreSonus users (Studio One, interfaces, etc.). Flat the mic sounds decent (very similar to the fifine Tank3). With the built in EQ and plug-ins even better. The presets are decent, although the initial compressor settings are HARSH. LOTS of start / stop hiss. Had to do a lot of tweaking to get rid of that. Mute button makes a distinctive sound when you mute, and people can hear that. My old fifine Tank3 didn't do that.Overall, this is a nice mic for the price now that it is less than 1/2 the original price of a few years ago. The fifine Tank3 seems like a tank in its build and this a little more "consumery", but if it holds up, the sound is worth it.

Built In Processing Sets It Apart From The Rest
I use this mic all the time and have recommended to several other radio people. The built in processing (they call it “Fat Channel”) is the star of the show! Play with the settings til you get the sound you want, or just use the built in presets.

New Favorite Toy
It's far from being a toy. Great quality. Sturdy build. Love the raw sound and processed sound. Comes with user-friendly interface software. I have two of them. I use it for vocal recording, zoom, and podcasts.

Possibly the worst device ever created
Awful software. Rarely works on my computer, even after changing drivers, changing computers, etc. It almost never boots properly, the headphone out frequently fails, requiring reboots and or replugging the USB jack. If I screw around long enough, I can usually get it to work, but it requires an extra half hour to hour of setup every time I want to use it, and the solutions are unpredictable and non-repeatable. The mic sounds OK, IF you can get it to work. Their tech support has not been helpful at all, and of course, but now it is far after the return period. DO NOT BUY THIS MICROPHONE.

Processing noise.
Out of the box i did hear some processing noise, and the software wasnt very user friendly. There was almost zero latency when using headphones. All in all, its a microphone that does what it needs to and will suit alot of people, it just wasnt for me.
