Review: A fine guide for planning a trip to, and exploring Mexico - I bought this guide for a recent trip to Mexico that included 3 days in Mexico City and a week in the Yucatan. The book helped us plan our trip in the Yucatan, with good information on small towns and recommended sights in them . We tried a couple of the recommended restaurants, and they were good. The colorful images give you a sense of what to expect, and the walking tours with their detailed maps and directions are informative. One of the features that stood out for me are the good layout maps of the archaeological sites such as Chichen Itza and Izamal, with snippet descriptions of the key structures - by no means exhaustive, but adequate. Despite the breadth that it covers, the book often surprises you with details of specific locations, for e.g. the layout and highlights of the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. Overall, happy with the purchase. This was the only guide I used, so I cannot speak for how it compares to other guides. Review: Love this book - I was excited to wake up and see that this book came. I love studying different places around the world. This book is amazing. I would suggest any one to buy this book and read it.

South of the border...
DK Eyewitness Travel makes a great series of travel guides, including this one on Mexico. It features plenty of color pictures, maps and diagrams in a well-organized survey of Mexico's tourist spots. There is lots of practical information on what to see, and at least some offerings on where to stay and what to eat. Mexico has thousands of years of history on offer, and much natural beauty in its varied terrain, from beaches to mountains to high desert to tropical forest. The cut away diagrams of Mexico's many surviving pre-Columbian ancient monuments and colonial cathedrals were especially interesting to this reviewer. The guide includes practical tips on good eating, good shopping and where to get the best bargains. The travel advice also includes cautions on crime and on dealing with the police, which may perhaps understate the case unless the traveler is staying in a self-sufficient resort. Mexico is a large country, and one guide cannot be expected to cover all of it equally well. Recommended as an excellent introductory guide for the first time visitor.

Another Eyewitness Masterpiece. Bravo, again.
Love these guides. Out family has over 30 of them from our travels around the world. We find them to be a great mix of bright splashy photos and sage advice. This isn't the guide to get for existing on a budget or find the corner hole pub that NO ONE knows about. This is the guide to read, understand, get easy assistance and make the most of some family time or extended travel time in MEX. Bravo... as always.

My favorite line of travel books
My favorite line of travel books. The full-color photographs and diagrams are incredibly helpful in deciding which second-tier sites in any country are worth seeing (since the must-see items are a no-brainer...though it gives helpful tips about those also).

Great book!
We do a lot of travelling in Mexico and this book is very comprehensive in attractions by region - and that means all regions - in Mexico. Indispensable, we'll bring it along on all our trips.
