Redi-Edge Large Redtl 40 Dog Tag Knife Sharpener, Black

I purchased this based on the advice of a friend. I have the usual assortment of stones, diamond sharpeners, etc, and purchased a WorkSharp sharpener a couple of years ago. The WorkSharp is my go-to sharpener for everything from kitchen knives to hunting knives to axes, hatchets, pulaskis, etc. However, I have a couple of small Swiss Army pocket knives that don't lend themselves well to using the WorkSharp, so I usually break out my stones for those. That is until now. This Redi Edge sharpener works like a champ on those knives. In fact, I thought it did such a good job of sharpening a really dull pocket knife that I used it on my wife's Cutco paring knife. Worked great on that knife, too. This particular model of Redi Edge gives one a 20-degree edge (40/2 = 20), which is fine for those pocket knives and the paring knife, but I think I will purchase their 50 degree model for the rest of my knives, and give that a try. I can see the 50-degree model as being a great tool to throw in my ready box in my truck for use when I need to touch up the edge of my knives when I am in the woods.

This is a great little sharpener. I hang it on my EDC bag. A few strokes of my knife blade and it razor sharp.

This knife sharpener is very easy to use and quickly puts a nice sharp edge on my knifes!

I keep it on my key chain and when i'm cleaning fish works great for touching up the blade on my felet knife.

I was always trying to keep an edge on my kitchen knives and EDC pocket knives without luck. I was sick of the stones, oil, and other methods. I just wanted a quick, properly angled edge that would last. I wanted it fast and cheap. This tool is what I have wanted for decades. I give a blade 3 draws through this device and I immediately have a very sharp edge. I am impressed. You will be too.

Ok, yes... it’s a great idea and designed well. But, it will never replace a couple of nice diamond hones. I experimented with a few styles of blades, and even tried a few different sharpening styles as presented on YouTube but I could never attain a “nice” edge that was sharp enough to be dependable. If worse came to worse it’s nice to have in a pinch but be warned it will ruin your nice diamond sharp edge. Maybe for a quickie on your pos Victronox it would work. But for gods sake do not use it on anything of value.

Must have in the kitchen. These work very well, on paring knives up to large chefs knives.
