Darth Vader and Family Coloring Book: (Star Wars Book, Coloring Book for Everyone) (Star Wars x Chronicle Books) Novelty Book – Coloring Book, March 28, 2017

The media could not be loaded.  This is a great coloring book filled with cute designs featuring Darth Vader and his kids. Leia and Luke are shown as children and even teens in humorous depictions with their Dad. I love the hand-drawn look and feel to all of the illustrations.It appears (for this book series at least) that Darth Vader has turned away from the dark side of the force and is trying his best to be a great dad. One of my favorite illustrations is Darth telling Luke to “use the fork” while they are eating. I've been there and done that, so I could relate one hundred percent.There are 47 illustrations (including the preface page.) The designs have a really nice level of detail but aren't overly intricate. The book is in a smaller square format at 8.5 x 8.5 inches. I really appreciate that Mr. Brown included a very short tutorial at the beginning of the book on how to drawn Darth Vader's head.This is what I experienced in coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper.47 line drawing designs based on Darth Vader and Family book series by Jeffrey Brown (includes 9 new illustrations)Designs are printed on one side of the page with cute wallpaper style design on the back of the pagePaper is medium weight, white, slightly smooth to the touch and non-perforatedSewn BindingDesigns do not merge into the binding area and (except for the preface page) have framing lines at the outer edgesBook easily opens to a flat position for coloring by creasing/breaking the spineAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paper easily. If I use this style of marker, I also make sure to use a blotter under my working page. I like card stock but a couple of sheets of heavyweight paper works well, too.Water-based markers, India ink pens and gel pens leave indistinct shadows on the back of the page. Some gel pens require slightly more drying time than usual.Colored pencils work well with the paper. While it is slightly smooth to the touch, it still has just enough “tooth” to it that I got fairly good pigment coverage from both oil and wax based pencils. I was able to layer the same and multiple colors well and could blend easily using a pencil style blending stick.

Everyone in the family loves this series and especially this coloring book ! So much that it seems that everyone wants to join in the coloring fun ! It was a present for our 8 year old daughter, who is a big Star Wars fan ! She laughed out loud when she opened this present and giggles lots when she colors the pages ! Absolutely wonderful buy and we would definitively recommend this book, along with lots of others from this series, to others young and old !

So I admit, I bought this for myself. I have a 2 and 4 year old who would love to scribble on in, but they have a million of their own coloring books and this one is too nice to be torn apart. I bought myself some really good colored pencils (Prismacolor Premier) and now I have something to do while they are destroying their coloring books. This coloring book is more advanced, so it is good for adults too.

All the pictures are single sided. The paper color is off white. The texture of the paper is smooth but not slick. Colored pencils work on it well. The drawings aren’t so intricate that you feel it will take days to color, but detailed enough so that they are interesting to color. The size of the book is not too big not too small. Again making it easy to color. It claims that the paper is FSC - from sustainability managed forests. Book is made in China.

My grandson loves it (age 6). I bought this one because their dad and all three kids are super fans of Star Wars. It was described as good for the family ( all ages)...

My seven year old son absolutely loves it. We love this whole series, and my son was excited to have a chance to color some of his favorite scenes from Darth Vader and Son. The detail is intricate enough for me to even enjoy.

A great spoof on the original story, where in this storyline, Darth Vader has an alternate reality & is present for the upbringing of his kids. I laugh when looking at it with my kiddo.

As a fan of the Jeffrey Brown books I just had to get the colouring book. Lots and lots of images - my favourite one being the Tauntaun. I would say it was a must for any Star Wars fan young or old.
