Review: Dries fast and hard. Adheres well. Personally prefer clear over gray. - I recently used this product to set steel rods into newel posts for an interior railing. I needed something that would set very strong given the safety implications of my project, and JB Weld fit the bill perfectly. I have some more rods to set, so finding a cheaper price on desertcart vs. the big box hardware stores was great. Working time / setting time: I saw several reviews say this takes 10-15 minutes or more. I had the exact opposite experience. Mine became tacky and gummy so quickly (3-4 minutes) that I had to get my items glued with hustle. I worked in small batches using little paper cups after losing a relatively large first batch to the quick drying. It's dry where I live, so maybe humidity comes into play and could explain the large variance between reviewers. I'm not sure when my items were fully set, as I didn't want to test them too early and damage the initial bond. Adhesion / strength: I glued steel into wood and steel into MDF, and both bonds are holding extremely strong. I had to remove one of the rods to fix some paint and it was quite difficult to get out - exactly what I was looking for. I initially used some classic gray JB Weld, which I think is potentially a bit stronger (just my objective feel, not sure if that's true), but I didn't want any gray to leak or show on my railing. The clear is holding plenty strong for my purposes. Don't expect JB Weld to replace real welding, however. It's still surface adhesion, so it has its limits. There are some great videos online showing you how strong this stuff really is when tested for torque, shear weight, etc. Clarity: Dries very clear, no issues whatsoever. The gray was making a mess on the white newels for my railing, but the clear is nearly invisible. I can see tiny spots where I spilled if I look closely, and they're easy to chip off with a razor.
Review: Works Great on Different Types of Plastic - I've used this epoxy for multiple different repairs and have been very happy with it. It has worked especially well on several different types of plastic, which isn't always easy to find with adhesives. It sets quickly, holds very well, and the clear finish is nice for repairs where you don't want the adhesive to stand out. I've had consistently good results with it and will definitely keep some on hand for future repairs.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you preserve this for future use. Mine dried up after about 6 months. I don't use it regularly. Is there a secret for preserving it?**
A: Try putting some Dow Corning 111 silicone grease (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CTUJNU2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) around the cap after it's sealed. It will keep air and water out, will stay in place, and is easy to wipe off when you need to use the epoxy again. It's food grade so you can use your bare finger to spread it around the cap.

**Q: Will this adhere rubber gaskets to hard plastic that will be underwater?**
A: Under the applications uses: marine; plastic& PVC; fiberglass, concrete, metal, wood, tile & ceramic, auto repairs, home repairs, industrial, outdoor equip., craft, trucks, marine, agricultural & equip. motorcycle, toys, and plumbing.

**Q: How is the clarity of this epoxy? Does it cloud after cured?**
A: I used it to fix a refrigerator door shelf and it cured completely clear

**Q: It is this waterproof?**
A: Once cured it is waterproof, but not intended to be applied in water. If you are looking for something specifically for water (e.g. boat, water tank, spa, etc.) you might consider this: http://www.jbweld.com/product/j-b-waterweld/

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong Hold, Slightly Longer Setting Time
*by J***B on 22 June 2026*

Hold: Solid hold once it sets, I made a plaque for a friend, roughed up the wood where I was placing the plastic so it has more surface to grip and epoxied it together. I tried to stress it a bit but it stayed solid. Set Time: Definitely a little longer set time depending on how much you're using but not by much. Probably a good 15-20 minutes before it dries most of the way. I'd air on the side of caution and let anything sit a good 30-60 minutes just to be sure though. Leakage: I left it in my truck in the North Carolina summer and nothing leaked out, I think it's safe to say they sealed it pretty well. Value: Good value, definitely not the cheapest epoxy out there but it's good quality and not an outrageous price so I won't complain.
