It is not. What I found is that 600 grit takes far too long to do an adequate job. This product is a fine polishing compound, suitable only for polishing slightly rough bores or lapping aluminum scope rings. For truing the face of a forged aluminum receiver, I found that ordinary Permatex 80037 four grit (120/220) valve grinding compound is much cheaper and works much faster.
