Not Built to Last, But Still Good
The media could not be loaded. I've had this a little over a month and the ringing sound at the end of the elapsed time has stopped working. Instead, the ticking sound just slowly gets lower and lower in volume until it stops, and random ringings occur during the last 3 minutes of the allotted time. I purchased it for help keeping me on track as a tool for dealing with my ADHD. It was very reasonably priced considering the alternatives. The most important feature for me was the red visual display as time passes. I wasn't counting on it being so small, being magnetic so unable to sit flat with the time face displayed forward instead of straight up, and that there would be audible ticking sounds as the seconds go by. I won't lie, the ticking sound is kind of annoying, but it's hard to find a place for the timer where it is far enough away from me for the ticking sound to not be so loud, but the small display can also easily be seen. All that being said, I am still relatively happy with this product. Most of my "surprises" were probably issues I would have been aware of had I properly read the product description, and it has helped me manage my time more efficiently so overall it was a good purchase and I got what I paid for.

Useful for a variety of purposes
I bought this to help my child with time management skills. I love that you can see the elapsed time. It really helps to make the concept of time more tangible. I originally bought it because I wanted her to use it in her classroom as well. But nixed that idea as soon as I tried it for the first time. The ticking noise is fairly loud, and holy moly when it dings. It sounds like the dismissal / recess bell for the entire school. There is no way the teacher would let her use it in the classroom. It would be very distracting/annoying. I won't even use it at home for her to complete any school work that requires intense concentration because I get distracted from the ticking, and I'm not the one doing the work... and I jump when it dings. We use it for taking a shower, getting dressed, unpacking bags, cleaning up, center type activities (which would be great to use in my classroom because it is loud enough for all to hear), technology time, etc.Pros:-Easy to use-Shows elapsed time-Magnetic-SmallCons:-LoudWishes:-There was a mute button/option-It had a clip on it and/or a hole so I could put a string through it

Lasted 2-1/4 years, not long enough, otherwise great
I have gone through a half dozen timers looking for one that (1) has a strong magnet so that (2) I can turn it with one hand when it’s stuck on my fridge. Finally found it! It’s accurate, easy to see how much time is left, ring is not too lound not too soft, etc. Only problem is that rarely, I set it and it doesn’t start ticking (so it won’t ring) but that’s only if I don’t advance the dial far enough before turning it back to the desired setting — and nearly every mechanical timer has this issue. Clearly, someone designed this well, and built it from better innards than other timers. This is the one to buy.————Updated: lasted 2-1/4 years (another I had bought gave it up earlier). Problem seems to be the inner spring wore down — started timing an hour less and less, until setting for an hour rang after 45 minutes (while short runs of 5 minutes were still accurate!) I feel a timer ought to last longer. I tended to use it, oh, about once a day on average, or less.

Simple, reliable and cheap
This is one handy little gadget. So far we've used it as a cooking timer, a freezing timer (15 minutes in the freezer for our favorite cold one), a kindergartner's task timer, an alarm for daytime catnaps, a board game timer, and a sprinkler timer. But the kinds of fun you can have with this thing are endless. The kiddo especially likes to twist it to a random countdown time and gently tuck it in next to the cat when it insists on taking a nap in the dryer. And although we admonish our youngster to refrain from an unfruitful type of mischief, somehow this safety mission turns even the most responsible parent into a little kid. Coupled with the aforementioned cold one (15 minutes in the freezer... rrrriiing!), the gleeful anticipation of a pampered cat with a death wish shooting out of a common household appliance at mach 37 is too good to pass up. Ahh, the simple pleasure of a small but incredibly useful mechanical device. If it was any more fun it just might be illegal.Highly recommended for making sure your food cooks properly and for training your animals to avoid a hot tumbling death.

Smaller than expected
I had one of these that was a lot larger which made it easier to see from different angles in the kitchen. (Someone must have knocked it off the refrigerator and broke the bell mechanism. Still kept time but didn't ring.) This one does work though. And is loud enough to hear. It is a good replacement. Just wished it was a bit larger.

This little timer is really cute! Little space. Easy to use. All around excellent.
This little timer is really cute! Little space. Easy to use. All around excellent.I gave it 4 stars only because I wish it were louder, and that's a personal thing because I'm hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. With them on, I can hear this alarm from the next room; without my aids, that doesn't happen, and the timer must be close. A reviewer wrote that it sounds like an old fashioned wind up alarm clock; I must say it's nothing like those old clocks I remember, but I expect it will serve well for average hearing. I recommend it!

Does what it says
Has a strong magnet, works well, seems solid and well-made, only problem is when the ringer goes off it’s very quiet and very short.I bought this to help with my autistic brother to help understand time passing with the visual red, for Example - when the red is gone and it makes noise he understands his iPad is charged.

Pleasing design - Analogue mechanism is the way to go
The timer is easy to set and the mechanism is nicely balanced. For short alarms, it is important to advance past the time you want. This sets the spring. If not the bell will not activate or ring for a short time. The clock face is clear and easy to read. This replaced a lightweight and noisy digital alarm. Analogue mechanisms are the way to go.
