Q: How Sturdy is it? I put a lot of pressure on the canvas with my brush.

I think it’s quite sturdy. My canvases are medium to small size. It might not be super sturdy if you’re using a really big canvas.

It cannot fold flat once assembled due to the drawer.

Q: What are the dimensions of the bottom arm (the horizontal piece that holds the work)? Specifically, what depth of work (how thick) can it hold?

I just started learning, but I use stretched store bought canvases & have to put a 1"X behind it or the canvas falls down inside the groove.. It might be supposed to do that, as I said, I'm VERY new to painting.
