Should the strut be able to move in/out of the air cylinder pre-installation? Mine won't budge at all. I don't want to install & these be defective

You should be able to push the rod into the cylinder. If you can’t I would say they are defective.

What size doors will this work on? How can I tell?

I used these for small 12"x12" overhead doors in my rv one per door

is ok to use 100n instead of 80n gas struts on my overhead kitchen cabinets? I can't find 80n in the right length, these will fit, thanks

You should be able to make them work.

With a door that's vertically mounted, are they soft close or do they "snap" shut?

They are soft close. I used them for a 10 lb bench seat. But they are not strong enough to soft close. They keep the seat up which is all I need anyway. No snapping.
