These "footless socks" were recommended to us by a full-time gardener
These "footless socks" were recommended to us by a full-time gardener, and we use them whenever we're outside in our local Tick-laden area. Basically we tuck in our pants into our regular hiking socks, then pull on these Pemethrin treated items. Then after we put on our hiking boots, we pulll these down over the tops of our boots. We rarely wash them as we want the Permethrin to keep its potency for as long as possible. This XL size fits nicely over the socks/pant legs, and has enough elastic so they don't slip down -- and enough give so that they don't restrict circulation. So far, so good for keeping the ticks at bay!

but they attract burrs and stickers like magnets.
These may keep ticks off you, but they attract burrs and stickers like magnets.

Stretched out enough, but still tight enough to stay on
Didn't get any ticks yet! It seemed too tight to fit over pantlegs and boot tops, but it stretched out after sliding it up on my calves on the drive to the woods, and fit fine. Stayed on nicely- I got the black 12 inch ones.

good but useless after some use
after some use and wash, the permethrin will lose its effectiveness. You cant spray permethrin on afterward. I'm guessing the chemical won't bond to the fabric. you'll be better off buying socks, cutting them, and spray permethrin.

Doesn't last
The sleeves seem to work well by keeping the insects at bay, but after only three uses, the pair has developed several holes - not large holes at this time, but worrying. Still these sleeves appear to serve the purpose... just not tough.

Working so far
I’ve used these on several camping trips and have not gotten a single tick. As someone with Lyme disease, I’m terrified of ticks and so far these work great!

Not really what they look like.
Kind of small, but when you are dealing with ticks having something is much better than having nothing.
