This is a very good sharpening set for the price. Having the 400/1000 and 3000/8000 stones themselves (which work great, no quality issues with mine at all) would have been worth the price as I had purchased just an 3k/8k a few year back for ballpark of what this set is priced at. A coarser grit stone added to the mix for edge setting on badly dulled blades would make the kit more complete, but in no way do I mean this as a critcism.The bamboo base is solid and works well.The angle sharpening guide is not something I use much but it is perfect for those new to hand sharpening or those looking for easier sharpening at that specific angle.The strop is...serviceable? Not great, but usable. I use it for my "work" knives; and (at least the one I received) is probably not the best for something like a straight razor or other such finer edged knives.All in all, great value. Totally recommend.

Worked as good as high end stones

My kit arrived today. Seems pretty solid. But there is only one sheet for instructions. Not very clear. There are however some videos on YouTube with other companies and similar stone setup. There was no mention on the instruction sheet about keeping the stones moist. Could have been more explanatory for beginners.

The media could not be loaded.  Up until now I have been using a different type of sharpening system.I found out about this set of whetstones and figured I would give them a try. Heck, for $20, not much to lose...After watching a couple of YouTube videos and a little practice on one of my crappy knives, I started the work on my EDC (every day carry).I was impressed before with my previous kit because it would shred paper efficiently. Now, the same knife will shave my arm as easily as using a Gillette razor!Just a little time and effort, you can't go wrong.

Stones and base are exactly as described and appear to work well. Strop is cheaply made and came folded several times causing rippling. I have homemade strops and won’t be using the one in this package. For those that are considering this package, don’t count the strop as a factor. The plastic angle guide should also probably not be a factor as it is just a simple plastic device and didn’t work very well. Overall, I am pleased with the package but only because of the stones and base.
