L4(TM) 1830 LED FlashlightThe L4(TM) is a handy, unbelievably bright LED flashlight that's powered by 3 AAAA Alkaline batteries. The lightweight, slim profile design fits neatly in your pocket and comfortably in your hand. A tail button switch provides quick on/off or momentary activation. The clip is virtually unbreakable because it is molded to the Xenoy body as one unit. And because it is molded out of polycarbonate resin, it won't cause sparks and is safe to use in electrical environments.

Decent Flashlight.
*******Revised, 6 months later *************After having the product for 6 months, it works pretty well. I have one problem that seems to plague these flashlights as I've owned two to this point. After about a week of use it flickers and shuts off and you have to shake it to make it work. When you freshly replace batteries it still works perfectly for a while. The older it gets, the longer my life of "ease" works.I continually use this item every day, on every car I work on. I get about a month of work still, but as I stated I get a week of "easy" use.************Revised**************************Let me start by saying I'm a technician at a Ford Dealership. So I use this flashlight to look at various things inside and out of the car, and being able to see what I'm looking at is very important, and consistency is a must. I've had my flashlight for over a month now.Pros:-Very bright- Extremely portable- Battery life is very long (I replaced factory batteries after 4 weeks of 8 hours a day, 40 a week use.)- Seems very impact resistant, have dropped it a couple times.Cons:- Light does flicker from time to time and you have to shake it. Main reason it does not get 5 stars.- Takes AAAA batteries, and for me I don't have them laying around.- Does look a little cheapo. Though, has resisted quite a beating without problems.*****************Revised 8/30/2013******************************Okay, I really liked this thing until I've now lost 2 of them because the clip that holds it in the pocket has no tension whatsoever. I am not buying a third, as I'm moving around a lot and it keeps falling out of my pocket, and I've had 2 of them go out the door in customer's(Happy customers I'm assuming) car never to be seen again.Still getting 2 stars because as long as you don't lose it, functionality is pretty good. But since I've lost two of them, mine do not function at all.

It would be nice if I could find it in safety colors
Hella bright, and it's tough enough for my work, where drops and splashes are likely. The only potential negative for long term durability is the tail cap switch. Its rubber cover is long and loose, and I can see it cracking or tearing under lateral stress, which gets applied just about every time you use the switch. It would be nice if I could find it in safety colors. It ends up in my backpack sometimes, and it's tougher to find in the dark.

pencil light pelican
When I purchased this pelican, i also bought the next model larger. I was trying to save weight in m hunting pack. When I received both, the weight is not much difference and the brightness provided by the larger model is much better - so much so that if I was deciding again, i would just go with the larger model that takes AAA batteries. Lives Up to Its Billing
The Pelican L-4 lives up to its billing. It's a tough, streamlined LED that puts out 8 lumens of light. Being tough does not mean hitting it with a hammer, but I do use mine at work all of the time and have dropped it several times. This is where I like it over a Brinkman. The AAAA batteries are a little more difficult to find than AAA but not impossible. The push button switch is definitely a plus. And it comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Can't go wrong with Pelican and their warranty.
Uses AAAA batteries. Thats a first for me. Pen light works great! Pelican has best warranty in the business.

It's pretty good. Good value
It's pretty good. Good value, but I've had brighter penlights. For the price, i would buy the same one again.

A little brighter would be nice but it is certainly bright enough
Very compact and light. A bit spendy and requires AAAA batteries which are a bit spendy also. A little brighter would be nice but it is certainly bright enough.

Perfect for pupil exams as an EMT
Perfect for pupil exams as an EMT, and feels solid enough that it won't snap in the pocket. Push button has momentary on or constant on setting which can be stuck on if in a cargo pocket (user error only). The light is bright enough to examine a patient without blinding them, which was surprisingly hard to find.
