Pro Tram System (1/2" Shank / 0.001" Indicators)

My impressions of this tool screams quality, fit and finish are excellent and like other Edge tools function with precision. Opening my package that shipped Directly from Edge, the outer box wrapping is of high quality stock covering a excellent plastic case.The case uses hinge points on both the clasps and hinge instead of the cheapo thin film hinge used by most other manufactures that shear over time, this and the high quality tool make this an excellent value.The foam cutout is crisp and snug fitting, the included calibration magnet come in its own protective tube. A very nice addition to my home shop.

This makes tramming easy and quick. Plus the price is right. It is very well made and beautiful, right down to every detail. I will be buying more items from this company.

Excellent tram unit and it looks good too, style points. Good job Edge Technology. Sure it is not difficult to tram without something like this although it is a pain in the ass but having this unit makes it so easy that you can do a spot check in no time if you think you twerked something. I had a crash the other day and just for grins I pulled out the Edge Tram and sure enough that hit hard enough to knock off the tram almost a thou, not major but realigned immediately. Being able to check easily when needed will help to not let bogus parts slip through.I do recommend this unit highly as it is well made, looks good, does the job and tones down one annoying procedure to tolerable levels.

Not sure I understand the negative reviews. True, there are many ways to tram a mill, but none are as efficient as with this tool. Using my Indicol and Starrett last word, it took 20 mins to get the head dead square to less than a mil. With this tool, it takes less than a minute. --As they say, time is money.The problem with all single dial gage methods is as you tighten the bolts, the head invariably moves a half-thousandths or so. When you do your double check after everything has been tightened down, it never fails that the squareness is off. So you have to go back and re-tram the head again until you get it right. It wastes so much time that I found less than ideal ways to mill angles because it took so much time to re-square the head.Double gages are a great old time machinist trick and is the reason I now have two Starrett last words to also square the vise in the horizontal plane. The two gages give immediate feedback and allows you to correct real time.Really a nice product and very well built. The only minor gripe I have is that the shaft is 0.003" under. For a precision tool, I would have liked that to be 0.0005 under so I could marry it to a precision R8 holder rather than using a spring collet. --No big deal and still a 99.9999% rating of the product.

I've spent the last year trying to design a base for a benchtop milling machine. Being a new-be, it took several designs but when I purchased this tool, the instructions on how to use it changed all of my designs. It is extremely accurate. Off to my CNC tramming project now! I am 100% confident this tool will get me to accuracy! This was well worth the purchase. Using the traditional method of rotating a indicator, this one lets you see very quickly which direction you need to go to get things trammed out.

Got this for my personal Bridgeport. No complaints. Easy to use.
