TYR Blackops Swimming Goggles

Solid Goggles
Fit, Comfort, and UseI got these for swim workouts and pool time, and they’ve held up really well. The fit is snug without being painful, which matters when you’re doing multiple laps. The adjustable strap makes it pretty easy to dial in so they don’t leak, and the silicone seals feel good on the skin without being pinchy.Clarity and PerformanceThe lenses don’t fog up much, even when I’m swimming back to back. The mirrored finish helps with glare when I’m swimming outdoors or under strong lights. I like that I can see clearly without squinting or worrying about water leaking in.DurabilityThey feel tougher than generic goggles. The materials seem well made, from the seal material to the strap and lens edges. After months of use, no visible cracks or warping and no obvious leaks. They have survived chlorine, splashes, and being tossed in the swim bag with minimal wear. What’s Nice for MeI’m an older runner and swimmer at 43, so I value gear that works without fuss. These goggles are a good mix of performance and comfort. They feel more serious than the basic goggles I used before. Also, when I swim in open water or in the sun, having mirrored lenses makes a difference for keeping glare and brightness manageable.Negatives or Things to Watch ForIf you swim in very low light or indoors with dim lighting, the mirrored lenses can make things feel a little darker than you would want. They take a little effort to get the seal just right. If the strap is too loose or the nose bridge isn’t aligned perfectly, you will feel water seep in.When they dry, if you do not wipe them off properly the seal edges can stay a bit tacky or hold onto water.Bottom LineThese TYR Blackops goggles give you a lot more than cheap pool goggles without giving up comfort. If you swim often and want something that keeps up without leaking or fogging, these are a great step up. They are not amazing for every situation like extreme glare or nighttime swims, but for regular swimming they hit the sweet spot of value and performance.

These goggles are worth the extra money. They can be easily adjusted, fit well, and maintain clear lenses without fogging. I’m sold on this brand!

Quite good - with just a couple exceptions
The lenses allow very clear underwater viewing. The tint is perfect for bright sunny days. They do leak a little but nothing that was too irritating. Lenses scratch easily and overall they are note very comfortable - I can only wear them for about 10-15 minutes at a time before I need to remove them.

A great set of goggles, with a caveat
Ever since Speedo changed the manufacturer for their previously fantastic Vanquisher 2.0 goggles, I've been looking for something similar. This pair is practically identical. It has all the same brilliant features of the Vanquisher 2.0, except it's slightly cheaper and the plastic has just enough give to it that it doesn't dig into the bridge of my nose (just like my old Vanquishers and unlike the newer ones, sadly):i) excellent silicone gaskets around the eyes, perfect for smaller eye-sockets and/or high cheekbonesii) nosepiece which is mounted high and is shaped to allow for a high bridge - adjustable by swapping for one of four included nosepieces to accommodate narrow to broad noses. I should note I couldn't swap out the nosepiece on mine. Only the one that came in the goggle actually snapped into place. I never had that issue with my old Speedos, but I have had that issue with the newer ones. I know, I know - I sound like an old person complaining how things were better in the old days...iii) a silicone strap, which will last forever without stretching.iv) wide field of vision mirrored lensesAs with all goggles, don't expect the anti-fog to last for very long. To maximize its utility, don't wash it with soap or in a hot shower (cold or warm is fine), don't take it swimming in salt water, and when it becomes less effective, rub a bit of spit into each goggle before each swim (or you could buy a bottle of anti-fog spray and use that, but I never found it worked as well!).Suffice it to say, I've tested many pairs and this is my new go-to goggle. Thanks, TYR!

Kids Favorite Googles!
These are my 8-year-old and 13-year-old's favorite googles. They like that they do not leak and that they have the reflective lens to block the sun.
