I don't believe the .5 x .4 x .3 listing.** A: 5 1/4 x 6 1/4 outside mounting plate. the rubber boot only lasted a few months - split; replaced with a vinyl boot. used the same metal ring **Q: What is the size of the square hole where the shifter arm goes through?** A: 3/4 “long x 3/8 “ wide **Q: will this fit 1993 chevy Silverado 1500?** A: I put mine on a 2002 Tacoma 4wd shift lever. It required some modification but it worked. **Q: Will this fit a 1997 ford mustang cobra?** A: Factory fit use of the rubber.boot, most likely no but with modification it will may work. If you need the trim ring to work, the holes will most likely not line up to anything factory wise, you would be 100% modifying your floor to make it work. The plate that is included is the only reason this is 4 stars. The chrome plate is very thin, as others have commented, it will deform when you tigthen down the screws. If they could double the thickness it be a 5 star product. If the boot top will be installed 2" or more higher than the plate, you will have plenty of flex. The more extended the boot the easier it will move forward/back left/right. If your top shifter level point is closer to the shift plate, the rubber will bind and not enjoy moving more than about 3/4" in any direction. Simple physics, the ripple needs to be present for flexibility. Those who complain the rubber is too stiff most likely have it low on the shift lever close to the shift plate.
