Vanicream Dandruff Shampoo – pH Balanced Mild Formula Effective For All Hair Types and Sensitive Scalps - Free of Fragrance, Lanolin, and Parabens – 8 Fl Oz

This is a 2% zinc pyrithione dandruff shampoo. It's far from the only one out there, but it's the other 98% that makes this the best I've ever used in over 60 years! The other 98% is a creamy lotion that doesn't sting your eyes or irritate sensitive areas. It is basically odorless, which is how I like it. It is effective everywhere you have seborrheic dermatitis and it's a pleasure to use. No useless tingly-stuff to make you think it's working – it just works. It rinses off cleanly and easily, which means you get to choose your favorite conditioner if you use one of those. They seem to have problems procuring some of the ingredients in a timely manner, so the stores will run out of it from time to time. My suggestion is to buy a year's supply and then reorder one bottle as you use it on subscribe and save. Otherwise it would be wise to have a backup favorite.

Our family faithfully uses this stuff regularly to control scalp irritation. We have sensitive skin and this has been in a league by itself in terms of avoiding ingredients that would exacerbate the issue. It does make ones hair a little dry, so I recommend just applying it to the scalp rather than an entire head of hair. We actually follow this with Eden Bodyworks Clarifying Shampoo on our scalps to keep that skin calm and not flaky. They make a good combo. Pros: fragrance-free, no dyes, no sulfates, helps control itch Con: a little on the pricey side Even with the cost, we feel the product is worth purchasing due to its benefits. I would consider this product particularly appropriate for folks who have extra sensitive skin.

This is by far the most effective and safe dandruff shampoo for chemical sensitive people like me. I've tried several brands, including Vanicream's original shampoo, which is too mild to clean oily hair, none of them can clean effectively without causing allergic reactions. On top of that, the balanced PH makes my hair stands up freshly. The other shampoo leave residues on my hair and make it flat. Hope Amazon brings it back in stock with a reasonable price.

I have only used this once as a shampoo so I can’t speak to effectiveness yet, but I can say there was no irritation, burning, etc. I say this because I have extremely sensitive skin and some of the ingredients I was very skeptical of. Basically everything seems to irritate my skin, even some all natural products. I bought this for seb derm that I have been flaring up with recently, but wanted to try it as a shampoo first to see how my skin would react. My head had no reaction and I let it sit for about 20 seconds after lathering for about a minute. It is pretty drying (similar to Head & Shoulders) but that seems to be the only thing to note. Time will tell how it works with dandruff, but I would assume well based on the active ingredient. Irritation was the main thing I wanted to test. As far as smell, lather, etc., it is really good. Similar to normal shampoo. The smell has a slightly chemical element but not noticeable at all. Again, the irritation is what I was worried about and that was fine. I will eventually try some on more sensitive areas if it stays well tolerated, but as of now I can recommend this. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to update my review. As far as shipping, there was zero leakage. It is sealed airtight with a removable seal under the cap. If this works how intended (no reason not to based on the active ingredient) this will be my first choice in dandruff/seb derm treatment.

My son has had eczema since he was an infant, including his scalp, always having itchy and dry skin. He has used a prescription steroid ointment since a toddler, but not only can you not use it more than 2 weeks at a time, but it’s also difficult to apply on the scalp if you have longer hair. Being a teenager he is very sensitive to his looks and having extreme dandruff from his scalp eczema definitely affected his self esteem. We have tried tea tree shampoo, Nizoral, Selsun Blue,Head and Shoulders and even tar shampoo, but nothing we bought over the counter worked. I figured I had nothing to lose when trying this Vanicream shampoo. After 2 weeks my son has already noticed a difference. Now he finally has relief from the itchiness, no flakes and is more confident. I’d definitely recommend you give this a try! He also uses the Vanicream body wash and body cream on a regular basis as well. We are so thankful for this product! After 13 years he no longer uses unhealthy steroid prescriptions! I tried every dandruff shampoo, this is the only one that works for me. We have different scalp issues, I say it’s worth a try! Other shampoo are just too strong and dry my scalp after shower. This never had an issue but I need to shower every day otherwise, my scalp starts to itch. use daily everything been good for years now. There was a time this was out of stock everywhere and I kinda panic a bit. Hopefully they won’t change it and keep it forever.

Great shampoo! This is the only shampoo that has been able to control my scalp & my face. Yes, I use it on my face too, because my skin tends to become very flaky in spots.

I wanted to like this shampoo because the Vanicream face cleanser and moisturizer are excellent. However, there is an ingredient in the shampoo that really irritates my eyes. No matter how hard I try to avoid getting it in my eyes, just the proximity of washing my hair causes eye irritation. It may be an ingredient specific to the dandruff shampoo and the regular shampoo will not have the same problem.
