Powerful laptop with the best screen (240hz OLED 1ms) for gaming.
I purchased the GE67 HX with the OLED panel back in early December 2022 but I wanted to use it for at least two months before writing my review. I'm happy to say the laptop has been solid from the start. It's especially great for gaming, given the OLED panel's 240hz refresh rate and super low response times. I bought the MSI to replace my 2019 Razer Blade 15, also with an OLED panel but with slower refresh rate because 2019. I went with MSI this time because it was a good deal and also I wanted a thicker laptop with more room for cooling. Sure the fans get loud during gaming but the performance is absolutely top notch in fast fps games and this MSI averages temps that are quite a bit cooler on average (I monitor these with Throttlestop and Afterburner) than my 2019 super thin Razer Blade 15. I use both on a laptop stands while gaming for the best airflow. If the fans are too loud for you, MSI also allows you to set custom fan profiles in MSI center so you can adjust based on your preferences. Overall this MSI is a solid choice for the gamer or person who wants a portable workstation PC.

My new favorite electronic device!
Saw so many video reviews on Youtube before buying; the main gripes were the screen isn't bright enough, and the fans are too loud.Reports of <400 nits brightness are WRONG. This unit is rated at and delivers 600 nits, with 500 nits being the industry average, its above. There is (was) a bug with MSI True Color washing out the HDR, but there is (was) a fix that is well documented by MSI. I fixed mine in minutes. HDR content is awesome and dynamic, and the OLED screen is just intoxicating. You won't want to look at an LED screen again. To address the fan loudness issue, unless you are playing a AAA game with ultra settings, this will not be an issue. Chances are you will have an external sound source or headphones, so it won't matter anyway.Leading into this: The only small gripe I have with this laptop is that the built in speakers are not very loud at all. They are usable and sound fine, but you will want to get your sound from somewhere else when it is convenient.Otherwise, this thing crushes games and is a great machine all around, and I cannot say enough how amazing the 120Hz OLED screen is for gaming. It is so smooth. I don't want to play at 60Hz ever again!Without going to the super-expensive range of laptop out there, this one is a deal for under $2500. Buy it, you deserve it!

My 2017 Alienware 13 R3 was better than this expensive laptop. MSI OLED not as clear and stunning.
1) Reviews claim this is a glossy and stunning OLED. I guess they never owned an Alienware 13 R3. This MSI is a semi-gloss screen. The Alienware from 2017 has a much more clear and glossy OLED. Noticeably better picture on the Alienware OLED over the MSI OLED.2) I thought the laptop was new when I bought it but it was USED and nearly 2 grand. It was in OK shape but missing all the instructions and laptop sleeve3) I thought this OLED was touchscreen like my 2017 Alienware. It is not touchscreen. Who buys a laptop anymore that is not a touchscreen. Once you have it you can't go back4) I like to turn my keyboard LEDs all white which works on my Alienware but try to do this on MSI and they look terrible pink on many keys...sadness5) After using a 13 inch Alienware for last 6 years I can say that the 15 inch is too big. I find myself moving my head to read across the screen. Like the front row of a movie theater.6) The sound on my Alienware 13 blows away the sound of this MSI OLED. Really MSI?...sadness7) My 2017 Alienware has a graphics amplifier eGPU that I put a 4070 desktop card in. I love this as it makes the laptop super cool and quiet. You can hook an eGPU to the MSI through thunderbolt but it does not get the performance of a cable that connects direct to PCI because it does not have as many lanes. My Alienware with the external graphics amp and NEW 4070 card installed blew away the MSI with 3070ti.8) The driver support of MSI is literally childish compared to what you get with a Dell Alienware.9) The MSI had the OLED issue that needed a driver fix. I read about it and followed the procedure which did work but you would think by now all units would ship with this issue fixed.10) The keyboard was inferior to Alienware and clicking the trackpad sucked compared to my 13 R3 and there were no designated buttons.Basically, I found out that my 7 year old Alienware 13 R3 OLED was way more superior in too many ways that mattered. yes... the MSI was fast but my Alienware did everything better for everything else and I wasn't hurting for speed. I will wait and see where things are at in 2025 when windows 10 is no longer supported and then maybe get a new laptop at that time or see if Microsoft Windows 11 ever support gen 8 CPU's.Now for things I liked about this laptop... ok I'm done.... Ohhh Here's one. I won't ever buy a laptop that doesn't have the extended back end as in the Alienware (who started this idea). It makes the laptop so much easy to carry with one hand open while you walk around with it. Also, I like the ports out the back as both these machines have. Perhaps I will try an Asus studio laptop with OLED but why doesn't everyone get we want 2K screens not 3K or 4K OLED screens?Amazing how a 7 year old laptop was still done better than the 2022-2023 laptops.Kudos to Amazon for letting me return it. I never return anything to Amazon but this was just way too expensive to be living with an inferior USED product and if it was new it was overpriced for how it compared to a 7 year old laptop. God I really appreciate my Alienware after using the MSI for a week. Those youtube reviewers better pick up the 13 R3 from 7 years ago and then tell me who has the stunning OLED. And the MSI is not even a touchscreen! Sheesh

It works
This was an emergency buy after my husband's university laptop (using for 3D animating, modeling, and rigging) was stolen at a conference. 3D modeling and rendering needs a mix of a strong CPU/GPU. But finding what was needed AND getting it to my house in time, really limited my options. Obviously, a 4060 is not the best GPU out there, but since I had a time crunch, it was "good enough". At least the CPU is a strong i9 & the power limits are high (boosts GPU performance), which is better than I can say for other makes/models.Thus far it is doing what is was bought to do, no complaints in that regard.Box presentation was well done. Setup was easy, the only real bloatware was Norton. If I had any complaint, is that customizing all the RGB lights was not intuitive. It's not in the MSI Center, but a separate program called GG. (Even searching the internet to FIND that out was a hassle!)Pro: The monitor is beautiful. The hardware is snappy. The fans are acceptable (they aren't loud unless under load). The 16" is a nice compromise in terms of size and portability. MSI Dragon emblem that lights up on the case looks hella cool!Cons: Tacky looking in person! The case-strip RGB, the WASD, the weird keyboard font... it all looks cringe in person.Unless something goes catastrophically wrong later, this is about it for this review. :)
