This book is an absolute treasure- captivating art with a beautiful message. A message of creativity and also the magic that happens when we work together with our unique voices. I was raised on children's books- my mom is a teacher and my dad owns a bookstore, so I know quality children's books when I see them. As a proud auntie and a friend to so many people who have young children, it's my favorite gift to give. I love to get to read them too. :) And do yourself a favor and look up the music composed to go with the story- it's also a work of art. The original score is in the cover of the book. This book is a multi-sensory experience.

The delightful Ellie is back! Now that she has saved her home, she tries to help her friend find some peace a quiet. In the first book, Ellie discovers her calling among her friends (I won't give it away). In this follow up, she helps her friends use the sounds they make as individuals and weaves them together to make magic. Both of my children love Ellie and her big heart. This story shows how the very things that make us unique can be even better through collaboration. The artwork is as fresh and lovely. Mike Wu's illustrations capture the story through color and movement. This is a perfect book for any child interested in art and music and shows that working together can be the best way to demonstrate friendship. Go Ellie!

My seven year old is obsessed with elephants, and while this book is written for a younger reader, he still enjoys it. The illustrations are lovely.

Ellie is determined to help her friend Lucy get a good night's sleep, how will she do it when all the animals in the zoo are so noisy? This is the perfect story to collaborate with your music teacher, musically inclined readers, and any others you may know who read music. The end papers' are the music sheets to Betty's theme (the little birdie that inspires Ellie to try to make music out of the animal sounds that keep Lucy awake.) The inside of the book jacket has the sheet music to Ellie's Theme, the concert she creates at the zoo to lull Lucy to sleep. This story and the melody for both themes found on the author's website, theartofmikewu.com, can be used as the starting point of a musical project, how can readers insert the animal sounds into Ellie's theme considering its tempo and tone?
