Eventually it might develop a hole that lets water in. Then open it to drain the water. **Q: Can these squares overlap without burning each other?** A: The squares frequently overlap for one reason or another. They have never burned or become discolored. **Q: How many degrees will it help bring up the heat in your pool** A: They add temperatures in warm atmospheric temperatures but are most valuable keeping heat in pool overnight. They folded tehm too light for shipping causing cracks or cuts int he plastic. They fill with water. I emailed the company with no response. I called them with no answer. They called me a month later and left a voicemail about how to send them back. I havn't dealt with it yet since i have been busy. I called the company after ordering them because one of them filled with water. Then another one had an issue the company would not replace or return the items at all. In fact they were horrible to deal with. I have been using them now for two seasons and half of them have black mold in between the plastic and we just threw them out. Also they only increase the temperature of your pool depending on the amount of sun it gets anywhere between five and 10° we normally got about 5° extra out of it. My bubble cover does a much better job, it will raise the temperature 5 degrees in the sun and retain most of the heat overnight.
