Assure Lock Touchscreen Deadbolt with Z-Wave, Satin Nickel

I got this for a number of reasons: 1) I'm trying to convert into a smart house (have this and an ecobee thermostat, lights are next on the list). 2) One of my roommates loses their keys constantly, so having a keyless entry was beneficial 3) We've been doing work on the house including getting central a/c and having the windows replaced, so having a way for contractors to access the house is great I got this with a keyed entry in addition to the number pad, in case of electrical failure. However, other than testing the keys, we've yet to use them, and I installed this about six months ago. So far, the batteries have not died, and there's been no other electrical failure (knock on wood). I've read a few reviews saying that the key pad wasn't responsive, but neither I nor my roommates have had any problems with that, though it did take a few days to figure out what they meant by "back of the hand to activate" was actually "back of the fingers". We got the hang of it in less than a week, so I'm not sure what else to suggest to people having problems. The nickle finish is smooth and sleek looking. It's quite pretty, and matches a lot of the brushed nickle objects I have in the house. The only hiccup I had was getting it on the wifi, but after I plugged my smartthings hub in closer to the lock, I was able to connect it with no problems, and it stayed connected even after I moved the hub back to its normal location. I especially like that I can lock or unlock from my phone, so that when I come home with a lot of groceries, I don't have to worry about fumbling for keys or stopping to put in a code. I can just unlock it from my car before I even start picking up my grocery bags. This lock was an investment because of the price, but I'd definitely say a good one. Note: I had a pretty smooth installation, so I can't say whether support is good or not for those who have problems. Hopefully, everyone else purchasing this product has as easy an install as I did.

I have Abode home security & automation system and needed a lock that works with it. The Yale Assure lock with z-wave was up and running in 10 minutes (to be fair I have installed a lot of regular dead bolts, this isn't really any different, just have to make sure you put the wires in the right way, but that's pretty easy). The z-wave integration with Abode was easy enough, although if your not tech savy you may struggle with that part. Nice that I can set it up to notify my phone when its open, AND I can lock and unlock through my Abode phone app The lock is grade 2, so better than a regular cheap deadlock you'd pick up at the hardware store, so it is a step up in security, just make sure your strike plate on the door frame using 3 inch long screws that reach the frame, otherwise it won't matter if you have grade1 or 2 or 3 deadbolt- anyone could kick it open in a few seconds. This comes with everything you need, screws and all, just make sure it goes all the way into the frame of the house and not just the trim. The touch screen is very nice and responds very well and the autolock function works really well, especially when you have kids and hands are always full... no fussing with keys is such a luxury that I wish I gotten sooner. This thing looks fancy too. I can't say enough about my first impressions. That being said, I will update in 3 and 6 months... Update: a few months in and I couldn’t be happier. Opening it 5 times a day at least and battery is still strong. No issues, works great!!

I like the lock it was really easy to install except that is sometimes says jammed so I have to hollow out more of the door jam for the deadbolt to fit better. Now the reason I have it 4 stars and not 5 is because I specifically purchased this smart lock to work with our Ring Alarm System. While trying to set up the integration I found myself completely stumped, I am no stranger to home automation and have set up all our smart home devices with little issue. While adding the lock to my Ring App via Z-Wave there is instructions to enter master pin then #-7-#-1 but this is impossible because there is no # on the keypad I tried to substitute the # for the gear symbol but when you put in master code then hit gear it takes you into settings menu after about an hour of failed attempts I called Ring Customer Care. That was my first big mistake, they were no help and tried to tell me I bought a lock that was not compatible and they we needed to try resetting my alarm system so I said I would call back because I knew that was not the answer. So I took a look at the user manual from Yale, in the settings menu you can select option 7 for Network Module Settings which allows you to join a network so I wonder master pin and hit gear and only had option 1-6 then I read that the green network module must be installed or removed when batteries are not in lock. So I took of battery cover and removed/reinstalled the batteries opened menu and option 7 was there so I hit add in the set up for the lock to be added in Ring app and it connected. All this to say the instructions on ring app are totally wrong so save yourself some time and trying these steps.

When we moved into our new house, the geek in me knew I wanted a smart lock. I looked for one that looked good and found this Yale. Installing and configuring were a breeze. I use a Z-wave module for use with the Hubitat Elevation hub, but I have also used it with HomeKit and prefer Z-wave. Once I paired the z-wave module, I was able to create and assign codes in Hubitat and then automate to my heart's content. When not using an automation, the key pad is easy to see and use during the day and at night. There's a chime that lets you know the lock has locked properly or if the lock has jammed or not closed properly. It runs on 4 AA batteries, which seem to last over a year with our use. One issue you have to be aware of, but this applies to all smart locks. The deadbolt needs to open and close smoothly so you may have to adjust the strike plate in the door frame. Our house settles and shifts between wet winters and very dry summers, so at one point, the door frame wasn't lined up perfectly. We had to file away a bit of the strike plate to make sure that regardless of the season, the lock opens and closes smoothly. Once we did that, we didn't have any problems and the battery life increased quite a bit. Even a little friction in opening and closing will wear the batteries out quickly.

This is actually a really good product. The problem is that the info on how to get it setup and working how you want it is severally lacking. I wanted a door lock that I could program to alert me when it was unlocked and also the ability to control it with my phone (why else would you pay $200 for this right?!?!). Anyways...It can be done as I have finally achieved that after numerous google searches and research. The whole home automation process is not intuitive at all because of all the options and different companies that's involved in doing the simplest things. You would think that you could take this item out of the box and install it and be able to control it on your phone using an app....I mean I have light switches, cameras and a garage door opener that all do that exact thing. The problem with this thing is that you have to use external hardware and apps not associated with the Nest or Yale brand to make it work right. Anyways if you get this lock and want to control and monitor it with your phone then.......get the Samsung smartthings Hub and download the classic smartthings app (the one that's white with just the blue circle). The one that looks like a snowflake will give you the same capabilities but it was much harder for me to figure out. With the Hub and the app, you can set it to get alerts every time the door is locked and/or unlocked. Also you can set up automation with it....like turn on the light every time its unlocked. The product is fantastic it just seems like the technology is out there to make it work but you have to find it for now....I think the main problem is there is no standard good company doing this type of thing right now rather hundreds of them all competing to get into the same market.

I ordered this item and had it replaced, it is in used condition from Amazon warehouse. The item arrived with only one set of screws ... the original has 3 sets to fit different door widths. Unfortunately mine wasn’t the set included so I had to buy proper screws. The first item had a lever broken inside and was missing Zwave module. It could not be installed. The replacement arrived . Nothing looked broken but once again screws were missing and the Zwave module was missing, I didn’t even try to install. I give up. I think they are mislabeled in the warehouse or else I got the only two that were defective. The lock itself is amazing. Broken, missing parts are the reason for the 1star. Amazon failed on this one. I suggest buy a brand new one on this item, you won’t be disappointed. The lock itself is amazing, I have the one without a key and love it. I can’t speak for Zwave bc I never got one. I do read Zwave works better than WiFi bc WiFi can be congested and thus faulty. Amazon issued a refund and I will be purchasing a brand new one that has ALL the parts included. They are reviewing the warehouse stock after my issues and hopefully any future orders won’t have the issues I experienced.

Installation took less than 15 mins, another 5 mins to connect to my Z-Wave hub (used Smartthings, which I had set up the day prior and connected it to Alexa ahead of time). Then another 5 mins to setup my family codes and settings. This is Super easy, anyone can install this. So in 25 mins I can now say "Alexa, lock my door"! Was very impressed with the simplicity of the design, the clear instructions, and the quality of the materials. It looks great too. Setting up codes and settings is easy thanks to a printed menu you get, plus the thing speaks to you! One thing I was caught off guard by was learning that you cannot UNlock your door with Alexa. Thinking about it, that makes sense, but I feel these huge banner ads "Works with Alexa!" should have a disclaimer on it. You really just need the voice feature to LOCK the door, and to check if it is locked, which this does perfectly. ME "Hey Alexa, is my front door locked?", ALEXA "Let me check if your front door is locked... Yes your front door is locked" And last, the Alexa-Smartthings 'dance' is funky and hard to follow. You jump around back and forth between the 2 apps trying to understand who is doing what, and most of that is Alexa's fault. I have it working, but could not tell you exactly how I did it!

The Yale lock itself works well, seems well build and has easy to follow instructions for installation. (which is why I gave the product 5 stars). However Ring users be advised that the Z-Wave link to the Ring hub is not able to control the schedules for the lock itself (Ring does not support it). For instance: You can sync Ring codes to the Yale lock and set a schedule in the ring app. The codes will still unlock the deadbolt at any time of day, even outside of the set schedule. If a code is used to unlock the deadbolt outside of the schedule it will not disarm the ring system and the alarm will sound after the entry delay. While it is nice to be able to have the Ring system disarmed when you unlock the door, we purchased it hoping to provide access control on a schedule which is currently impossible when connecting Z-Wave locks to the Ring system. If you are a Ring user interested in access control you may be better off looking for another smart lock (Yale has some) that has it's own control app that can handle schedules and forgo the convenience of the "auto disarm when unlocking/arming when locking" feature that Ring offers.

The is the 2nd Yale Zwave deadbolt that I bought. The first one (RYD210) was bought back in 2011 and it is still work well. I replace it because the color on the outside is all dull due to 12 years weather exposure. This touchscreen one look much more luxurious and I like the voice instruction is very convenience. Also the sound effort is much soft. But other than that, the installation design and functions are all pretty much sme as 12 years ago. And work just the same. Fairly reliable with few issues that can be resolved by completely reset and reprogram. The only thing lack is the random code feature that Kiwkset/Weiser has so people cannot see your finger print to guest your code.

Great lock, functions as it should. Replaced 2 garbage Schlage locks (they are the WORST company ever with zero customer service and support) with these and the experience was wonderful. Just make sure to buy configured as you need it. You can get it with a) no connectivity b) with WiFi or c) with zWave (might be other options I don't know). In my case I wanted integration with Ring and it worked perfectly, setup was ultra fast and simple. As another reviewer mentioned make sure it locks and unlocks without hitting the sides (best way IMHO is to ensure the door catch pulls the door to the correct position for the deadbolt to lock).

J'adore ma serrure, j'avais peur pour l'utilisation en hiver, mais ça fonctionne bien. On doit toujours tirer la porte vers soit pour que le mécanisme s'enclanche bien, mais c'est normal à mon avis, on ne voudrait pas d'une porte avec jeu et que l'air puisse y passer, surtout dans les grands froids du Québec. Demande une installation par quelqu'un habitué de faire des travaux manuel et utiliser les bons outils, car notre porte a dû être adapté pour ce genre de serrure. Prévoir plusieurs heures d'installation si votre serrure a besoin d'être adaptée. Instructions seulement en anglais, donc assurez-vous de bien comprendre la langue car c'est difficile (voir impossible) de trouver celles-ci en français. Recommanderait sans problème.

I've used a number of keypad locks over the years and a couple of smart home locks. This lock is well built and responsive, it is designed to fit a couple of different deadbolt hole sizes/positions (two most common north american standards) and comes with a good installation guide (read it). I had no problems installing, although the deadbolt resizes for "deeper" holes and how it does that looked a little odd at first (it looked like the deadbolt was retracting too far) until I understood how it worked. The z-wave function was easy to install and setup and I have mine paired with a Samsung SmartThings Hub v3 with no issues and now incorporated into a lot of routines with door sensors and proximity sensors. Setting codes is straight forward. I find the keypad a little odd since it is a flat surface and needs to be "palm" touched before lighting up and activating, but once you get used to it you are fine. It does NOT have number randomization, so a lock that gets heavy use may eventually show the key code numbers through wear on the display, but for a garage lock like I am using it this isn't really a concern for me. I'm quite happy with the look and build quality.
