New York Beauties & Flying Geese: 10 Dramatic Quilts, 27 Pillows, 31 Block Patterns

I bought this because Tula Pink was in it so much as I've become such a fan of hers, BUT the patterns are so beautiful by Carl Hentsch! I am so excited to try some of these modern quilt designs. I bought it specifically for a pattern that was done by someone in my sewing group, and I was so thrilled to see all the amazing patterns in it, and that not only did Tula Pink write the forward, but her designs were in so many of his patterns in the book that will be so helpful for when I do my quilts. They are beautiful, modern, and the reason why T.P. has tuned the sewing world on fire. The two of them together are AMAZING in their creations and fabrics. So happy I bought this book. Thank you.

Sometimes you think okay another book, I don't know should I order it. Get this Book. If only for inspiration and to feel better. This is a Wonderful book, so inspirational and I think I can do it. So glad I bought it. Have never heard of this guy, but I can't wait for his next book. I want to use my Alison Glass fabric, Jane Sassaman fabric, Tula, Amy, oh and Valorie, Anna, Kaffe, this book screams all of the these plus the beautiful cherry woods and other wonderful solids out there. Anyway I am very happy. Keep doing your thing Carl!

This book was helpful for learning the basics of several New York Beauty patterns. Several of the quilt projects offered were pretty uninspiring, but a few piqued my interest. I like the fact that they offered a modular approach to building their blocks...which made it possible for me to design my own blocks based on the book's patterns.

It's rare that I purchase a quilt book and actually love it...but this book is one of those exceptions! It's fantastic! So many beautiful patterns! I wouldn't recommend this for a beginning quilter as it is extremely detailed and the quilt projects will take some time to complete however, the pillow projects are easier to understand and could be made over a weekend. The pictures are beautiful and the fabrics used in the samples are current. I can hardly wait to start a quilt project from this book!

Well-illustrated and highly detailed with templates to copy to make these detailed and beautiful foundation paper pieced circular flying geese designs- well worth the price. I was able to come up with my most beautiful quilt ever as a result of this purchase! The title is a bit misleading as there were no designs with the points associated New York beauty patterns.
