Great for a starting homeschooler parent
I have used LifePac for my 7th grade student, after taking him out of public school after 6th grade due to safety concerns of his physical and mental state. He had a learning curve in how to critically think over the information in the material, as the questions are asked differently than they are presented in the text, instead of the copy paste style that many public school books have. There is biblical references through out all the subjects, so if that is something you are against I would suggest a different curriculum that you see more fit.The subjects are broken down into 10 different units, with one teacher book to help grading and questions. At the end of each chapter is a self quiz, and at the end of each unit is a test, English has these for the grammar as well as separate spelling quiz and tests. It is student lead so they have a lot of reading that they can do on their own, or with you if that fits your child's needs better, in the teacher manual there are also little guide sections at the start of each of the ten units to give extra teaching support, if you choose to use them.In some subjects I find the extra teaching aid is helpful for my student, others he is very good at picking up the topics without need of them. This set is truly complete, you can teach with just this and have a well rounded year. However you can supplement in areas you find your student really enjoys to just enrich that area, or you can add extra things to help improve speed of math problem solving, if you find they are weak in that area. It is a complete set but not so over the top with busy work that you can't tune it to your child's needs, after reviewing other curriculum like Abeka - a lot of busy work, and Monarch - open to tech issues and doesn't give them a place to work on penmanship, and overwhelming myself with trying to piece together a custom plan from various good curriculum, I found LifePac and I am glad I did. This coming school year I am bringing home my other three children, it was my test run year with just the one middle schooler before jumping full in. This curriculum set up is helping me to have the confidence in being able to stay on track, and to bless my children in this way.

Exactly what we needed
This curriculum is exactly what I needed as a first time homeschooler. Even includes planning pages and tips, grade book pages, and tips on scheduling homeschool days! The kids are loving the lessons so far and the teacher books are a fabulous help to me as I plan and help them through! Highly recommend this curriculum for any first time or veteran homeschool parents

Great homeschooling package.
We were going online to a school for a year paying a lot of money for schooling and it was a bit inconvienent for study. We thought that having the books would be better for study purposes so we decided to go this way. The courses are the very same and it is much easier to study from. We love the product. The ratings are high in standards and our child gets to learn about the Bible as well.

... for my 4th grade grand daughter and am very pleased with it
I use this curriculum for my 4th grade grand daughter and am very pleased with it. Love the fact that it is Christian based and has Scripture references throughout the curriculum! Works really well for her, challenging and self paced.

Pretty good but...
This is a pretty good product, it explains things in an easy to understand way and my daughter loves doing school work because of that! The only problems I have with it are:-Lessons can be pretty long and they don't always have a clear "end point". This can easily be sorted out if you pay attention and do some advanced prep for the weeks lessons (most of us homeschoolers do that anyhow).-Some of the lessons are repeats of previous years, we are new to this publisher so my daughter has already gone over a lot of the stuff covered in the first two workbooks for math, history and science. I don't see this as being an issue if you just start from kindergarten with this publisher.-There doesn't seem to be enough work to get my daughter through the entire year. We started the school year a little early because my daughter was getting very bored with summer break, if we keep at this pace she will be done with fourth grade by January or February of 2014, currently it is the end of July 2013.

Great Comprehensive Christian Curriculum for an affordable price.
We've been using LifePac for several years now. We are just finishing up the fourth grade. I really appreciate this curriculum. 1) It's easy to use. Open box, open book. Read and learn. Easy. August-May we do one book a month per subject. 2) Every subject is taught from a Christian worldview. God's plan, Jesus, and the Bible are openly discussed in most subjects. 3) AFFORDABLE - back to school supplies would cost more than this entire set of books. Other than this you might need a notebook and pencils, other than science supplies. 4) The material is academically rigorous without causing too much frustration for my child with ADHD and processing disorder. The history and geography can be challenging because it's so in-depth, but I would prefer my daughter to learn more about the world and adjust the assessments if necessary than learn too little. Her friend's parents even commented that she is learning way more than the public school children are, which makes me feel like she is getting a good education. 5) Apologetics - I have found many basic apologetics concepts (defending our faith) in her curriculum. She has learned the cosmological argument, the fine-tuning argument, the empty tomb, the disciples persecution, Thomas Aquinas, etc. In 4th grade she is more equipped to defend her faith than I was in high school and maybe even in college. The only negative I have about this curriculum is that I do find typos and mistakes occasionally. But that is easily overlooked. There are lots of great curriculums out there, but at this price point, I don't think you can beat Lifepac. The workbooks mean we can work anywhere at a pace that suits our family and lifestyle. We travel and take our books with us. It really has been the perfect homeschool solution for our family. We plan to use the 5th grade set next fall.
