The English Laundry Riviera Eau de Toilette is a great fragrance to give to a friend or for yourself. The cologne comes beautifully packaged in a flip top gift box with the English Laundry logo embossed on the inner liner fabric. The bottle itself is quite large with an attractive. The bottle has an ombré effect to it and is very flat and wide. The scent is lightly musky, but still had a nice kick of freshness to it. It’s a pretty standard scent, and when applied is not overly strong. The husband liked that it’s not an overpowering type of scent and I liked how you couldn’t smell the scent unless you got up close - this is not one of those “everyone in the elevator can smell you” kind of cologne. This works well as an everyday type of cologne - it’s not unique enough according to the husband, but it’s still a good scent worth trying. If you can try it out in store, definitely do so before buying a bottle - colognes smell differently on different people, so what worked for the husband may not work the same for you. Overall, he enjoyed the cologne, and a bottle this size will last quite a long time.

It’s a nice floral set for a man, not overpowering and my second purchase of this cologne.

Love this sent for my husband, not to strong, smells great

I was blown away by the elegant box and bottle of this. This is outstanding as far as packaging of the bottle goes. The box is hinged, and the inner compartment is made to fit the impressive bottle exactly, so this would be an excellent gift. I found this to be quite generic and nothing special during the dry down period which lasted about twenty minutes. Given the notes it contains, this was a major disappointment. However, after that twenty minutes this started to really grow on me. I found this blooming into an intensely masculine, in your face sexy fragrance that appealed to my feminine side in a down right earthy way. While it maintained a somewhat generic quality, I found it also was a spicy blast of lime and patchouli that was both youthful as a teen at his prom, and confident as a fully adult, frankly sensual male out on the town at night would be. The key to using this would be to do what some ladies do with their perfumes that can be heavy, and put a generous spray into the air, then walk through it, so it doesn't lay on your clothing in an offensively heavy way. This is very intense, and could be somewhat off putting to anyone nearby if too much is used. Alternatively you could spray the air around your head with this so the slightest hint would linger on your hair and shoulders, rather than applying this directly. I feel that if you want a fun sexy very male, spicy cologne, and know to not overdo how much of this you use, you may find that women are very attracted to your scent. This isn't subtle about it's maleness.

This must be an off brand thing. I got this as a replacement for my boyfriend, he had a bottle that he purchased in store that had run out. The store bought one was very potent, as most colognes are, while this one takes 4-6 sprays to smell like anything. It's the same wonderful smell but it seems like it's watered down or something.
