4th time buying this series through the decades.
I remember reading about this anime in Diehard Gamefan during 1997 I believe. The games have been nothing short of amazing with Night Warriors being my favorite.A couple of things to note- 1080p: they did the best that they could with what they had. This looks good, but not as strong as the 2 prior Fatal Fury releases. Still, this will be the best that this 25 year old anime will EVER look.- Language: Japanese DTS Master Audio 2.0, English DTS Master Audio 2.0, Japanese DTS Master Audio 5.1.Only the Japanese track gets a 5.1, I’m a big fan of this dub and what the Ocean Group did with it in the 90s so it’s a bit of a bummer, but everything sounds wonderful.Extras: nothing much that Viz didn’t do on vhs and dvd and the same with the Discotek dvd from a couple of years back.Discotek has seriously done an amazing job with this release. They have been able to update old properties with an amazing coat of paint, this being no different. If you are a fan of this franchise there is not much new here except the look of the visuals. If you are curious and have not heard of this franchise, check this anime out and look forward to the upcoming collection from Capcom to see some of the funnest and unique fighting game franchises from the 90s.

Great series and happy to finally have it in HD!
I've been an avid Darkstalkers fan since I first played it on my Sega Saturn. When I first discovered this series on VHS it has always been part of my collection and I try to show it to everyone who has not seen it. For 90's anime it has solid animation and really nails the look and atmosphere of the games. When the DVDs released I grabbed a copy. And now this amazing OVA is on one disk and in HD. Animation seems to look it's best on blu-rays/HD. I guess my only complaint is that this series isn't long enough. Highly recommend!

Beautiful remaster, and wonderful re release.
I grew up with the Darkstalkers OVA's only being able to find a vhs or dvd here and there. I'd always wanted to own the entire collection. This 4 episode OVA is crafted with love for the games and character designs. Not a particularly deep story but a fun show that doesn't require a long commitment. If you're a fan of the games, or 90's anime I certainly recommend this as an essential part of your bluray collection.

Release review, not show content
The series is one of my all-time favorite anime. My other faves include Project A-ko and Lodoss. So I'm not reviewing the content, just the presentation, which I admit I don't love on Blu-ray.I previously had the Alpha and Omega dvds, and I remember the picture being brighter and more saturated in some areas than on this BD release. Here, especially with the first episode, I felt the colors were dimmer and less saturated. There were a few moments in the later three episodes where I noticed something similar. Again, maybe I'm not remembering the previous release accurately, but these areas just don't "pop." You can do dark scenes that pop.Fortunately, they DID keep the english dub from the dvd releases. I like it much more than the japanese audio - LRaptor's and Felecia's diaglogue in particular just sound so much better to me than in the j audio.I love the show and the game series, but I'm not 100% pleased with the presentation. Still, a worthy piece to add to one's collection.
