Great value - solid construction
This wading staff is less than 1/3 the cost of popular name brands. It has a coated steel cable inside, so it holds the staff together when you get it stuck or wedged in the creek bed or ground. My first one lasted almost 10 years, with an average of 25+ days of use per year.

Wading staff
This wading staff works great and the price point is fantastic for what you get.

Staff is great (maybe a little better directions). Great company response.
The staff comes in sections with a steel cable running down the center. To lock it you pull the top 2 sections apart until a pin pops up and locks in place (picture). They don't put any directions in there you just figure it out. The first time I tried it I pulled the handle off, I thought I broke it. My initial reaction was to curse and email them about their product. They responded quickly and offered to replace it no questions asked. Then I noticed that you if dont pull it apart using the handle (just grab the two metal sections and pull) it works fine. The handle is a heavy duty plastic covered in rubber (pic). It's not a one-hand set up but it didn't cost $100 either. It's tall enough -I'm 6'5 215lbs. Also comes with a belt case. Looking forward to using this on the river. I think I'll be plenty sturdy.

Don't let the reviews fool you...
If I could give this staff .5 stars I would. It gets half a star for being convenient to open and lock in place.Only buy this product if you intend to drown. I say that with sarcasm, but it's partially true. I almost did.Fished the tunnel section of the Arkansas River in CO, and literally almost drowned. I only used this stick a couple times, and didn't even use it for weight support (mostly balance, I only weigh 185).I couldn't get the staff to stick in the river. It kept slipping. The "fear for my life moment" came when I was crossing a smooth flowing section only about 3 feet deep. This staff is soooooo weak. It began wobbling tremendously. It was wobbling so bad that I almost threw it away because it was causing more problems than helping my balance. I'm honestly surprised it didn't break. Long story short, had I not had a wading belt on, I would've been in serious trouble, no thanks to this stick. That whole section of river is about 10+ feet deep with the exception of where I was crossing.Unless you're fishing small East coast streams, spend your money on a more superior product. The old "get what you pay for" motto stands very true with this product.I missed the return deadline by a day so I'm stuck with it now. I will continue to carry it for snake deterring purposes, but I will likely never remove it in the river again.

With the different tips arrangements for snow, street or hiking different terrain in the hills. Wonderful investment and I bought one for a friend as well.
