I bought this in 2020 for my wife's birthday and it's still working perfectly... I guess it was worth the $170... for a toaster. But I must say, we've had no issues with it and it toasts bread perfectly. It's a nice color that matches well with her Smeg water heater. Value: 3/5; it's sturdy, has lasted 5 years and toasts well but it's far from what someone would say is "value" Highlights - variety of toastedness - sturdy and lasts forever - material feels luxurious Room for improvement: need I really say? PRICING! I mean I wouldn't buy this again unless my wife absolutely pleaded for it because $170 for a toaster is just outrageous. Final take: It's a great toaster, don't get me wrong. It functions perfectly and looks chic. I money isn't a consideration and you're looking for form and function, well, this is it.

I am in love with the color and the design. After hearing all the buzz about Smeg’s retro-style appliances, I decided to treat myself to their toaster, and it hasn’t disappointed! Right off the bat, the design is a showstopper. The sleek, 50s-inspired look adds such a stylish touch to my kitchen. It’s one of those appliances that you don’t mind leaving out on the counter because it doubles as a decor piece. Functionally, the Smeg toaster is just as impressive. It toasts evenly and consistently, which is a big deal for me because I’m picky about my toast! There are six browning levels, so it’s easy to adjust depending on whether you like your bread lightly toasted or golden brown. I’ve tried everything from bagels to thicker artisan bread, and it handles them all with ease, thanks to the wide slots.

So for the looks of this toaster, the color options, and the overall toasting ability is five stars. The only reason I knocked at the stars is because whenever you pull down the lever it seems like it takes two or three times to get it to actually stay down. I don’t know if that’s a flaw just mine but that’s the only thing that’s pretty annoying. It won’t do it if you actually firmly pull it down. Otherwise I love this toaster and I’ve had it for a couple months now.
