Great Shimano Quality
Works as expected - great Shimano rear derailleur. My previous one did get damaged (bent) on a mountain bike ride - my fault. Was an easy swap out and needed only little adjustment. Shows that even a little bit of bend in the rear derailleur affects the shifting - now perfect shifting again. So - if your shifting is giving you trouble check the derailleur for potential damage and/or if your shifter cable is starting to fail.

Works Great!
Easy to adjust and shifts great. Put this on my son’s Giant 8 speed when his stock derailed had issues. It only took a few minutes to install and set up. Tons of jumps and heavy trail riding with no issues.

Not a 9 speed. Only 10 speed.
This is NOT a 9 speed derailleur. It does not have the same cable pull ratio as a proper 9 speed Shimano mountain bike derailleur. I learned this the hard way after installing it and properly setting all 3 set screws. It would match with some cogs and not with others. It would not travel the full width of my 9 speed cassette. I happened to have a 10 speed cassette and shifter that ended up working beautifully! Lucky. If you don't know yet, a derailleur is designed to travel in sync with the shifter that matches it's cable travel ratio. The two need to match. This is not compatible with 9 speed systems as the seller describes. It's a wonderful piece though. It works great and is better quality than my stock deore derailleur. Research 9 speed model names on the Shimano website if a 9 speed system is what you need and go based off that model info. The shipping time was fantastic, by the way. Well done there!

Nice upgrade to my original XT.
Great upgrade from the standard XT. I had to replace mine when a good size branch levered up off the trail while riding, wedged itself between the mech and the wheel and ripped the old XT off. This one was not much more than a direct replacement and the clutch is well worth the added price. I was used to having a chain drop or two on every ride (15-30+ miles). I've been riding with the shadow system for about 150 miles now and haven't had a drop the whole time! Slap is lessened or non existent... hard to tell when going through the really rough stuff but overall the chain is obviously much more stable. I can't see a reason to step back to a non shadow system if I had to replace this one. If you don't like it, you can just switch the little lever off!
