Beautifully written novel that I consumed in one sitting. Highly recommend.

Eli is an exceptional writer and this is a mesmerising debut - I couldn't put it down and have since lent it to loved ones who felt the same way. I didn't want it to end, and it has stayed with me since reading it. A wonderfully constructed story about how we can never really know or understand the people we love. I can't wait to read more of Eli's work, if Strange Heart Beating is anything to go by we will all be very lucky to have more novels from her.

An excellent debut novel that I read in one sitting. The author writes very well from a slightly baffled male perspective, in some ways like early Iris Murdoch. The language is starkly beautiful, like the Baltic landscapes it traverses. Lingers in the mind. Recommended.
