Bplus-puck screen/filter for espresso (58.5mm)

I tried a thin, very thin, laser-hole perforated metal-sheet puck screen; it made for a cleaner shower head too. But I didn't like that it deformed and was hard to maintain flat.Bplus keeps it all clean and stays flat. it's hefty, feels premium. I was worried about the edges being fray wires, but amazingly, it's not doing that. Unlike the thin screen, Bplus has changed how the coffee puck ejects from the porta-filter basket... cleaner. It's been consistently cleaner than without it, leaving no spent coffee in the basket. From what I understand, difference in coffee saturation is why chunks of coffee remain in the porta-filter basket after ejection. If the puck is dry enough, a clean basket after ejection means even saturation . Even though I cannot see how pressurized water if flowing through Bplus, the affect it's had on cleaner coffee baskets makes me conclude the puck is being saturated more completely.For my espresso machine / basket(s), I dose different using the Bplus. Before Bplus, I used to use a 15 gram basket with a 15.5 -15.8 gram dose, but now I dose 16-16.3 into an 18 gram basket. Similarly for the 15 and 20 gram baskets - also dose about two grams less. This is to account for the thickness of the Bplus vs headspace above the coffee. If I dose more than16.3 in the 18 gram basket, locking in the porta-filter will cause the shower screen screw to mar Bplus (oops). So if interested, use a basket about two grams bigger than your target dose. Note: head space requirements differ with coffee roast level so Bplus taking up about two grams of space is a guesstimate... I use med/light side of medium roasts.

As usual Australians are paying ripped off prices. I can't imagine why this costs so much as compared to vendor website.The product itself works and its good. It saves a lot of coffee as I have to dose much lesser now. This needs to be kept in mind as if you overdose, the product may hit against the group head shower screen and may get damaged.The reason I selected this product against competing ones is, this is a 316 stainless steel. This is important as it will not rust like 306.I want to buy another but at this illogical price its not worth it.

The puck screen works very well. Every puck that comes out forms very well and not muddy. It keeps the group head clean and minimize channeling. I am considering buying another spare if there is any promotions coming up!
