You might want to look into size of opening and if the collar charm has a wide part to to get over because i know they can be thick there. Anything below 6mm-10mm might be too small. I also usually see split rings on collars. They are the ones that look like mini key rings. This kind will open up with one good pull.

what gauge are these rings?

They are quite thick. Thicker than 18, but I don't have thicker wires to compare so I'm not sure of the number. For me, it was thicker than I preferred for necklaces and earrings. They are .8 mm thick.

Will these work for soldering?

Stainless steel is not good for soldering.
