Review: Great set for the price - As a sourdough novice, I had none of the “tools”. I have serviceable alternatives in my kitchen, but the bowls I used for proofing didn’t seem to work very well - though that could be my lack of experience. I ordered this kit as an investment toward my success. I was worried about how light the bowl seemed, but it was strong enough to hold the dough without breaking. The removable liner comes on and off easily but stays put when holding the dough. It washes easily - I hung it up to dry. It doesn’t keep the flour completely from falling through to the bowl, so I did need to gently brush the bowl a little, rinsed it, and air dries it thoroughly. The mixer has a comfortable weight to it, as well as the dough cutter. Both seem pretty well made. The lame needs to have the blade put on it, and though it’s sharp, it took more effort than I expected to score the dough. In all, I’m happy with my purchase. It’s good for a starter set.

**Q: Just received my set but the basket smells like manure, is there any way to get rid of this smell?**
A: Wipe down your bread proofing basket with a solution made of equal parts water and white vinegar.  Then, sprinkle it with baking soda, and allow it to dry completely. If possible, dry it in full sun.

**Q: How long (inches) is the wooden handle of the dough whisk?**
A: The Danish dough whisk's handle is 6.7 inches (17 cm).

**Q: I need a dough bowl for biscuits, will this work**
A: Yes! These tools and the basket will work to let your dough rest. Make sure you dust your basket with rice flour or some kind of flour so it doesn't stick.

As a sourdough novice, I had none of the “tools”. I have serviceable alternatives in my kitchen, but the bowls I used for proofing didn’t seem to work very well - though that could be my lack of experience. I ordered this kit as an investment toward my success. I was worried about how light the bowl seemed, but it was strong enough to hold the dough without breaking. The removable liner comes on and off easily but stays put when holding the dough. It washes easily - I hung it up to dry. It doesn’t keep the flour completely from falling through to the bowl, so I did need to gently brush the bowl a little, rinsed it, and air dries it thoroughly. The mixer has a comfortable weight to it, as well as the dough cutter. Both seem pretty well made. The lame needs to have the blade put on it, and though it’s sharp, it took more effort than I expected to score the dough. In all, I’m happy with my purchase. It’s good for a starter set.
