The Secret of the Rosary

This book was surprisingly easy to read - it provides great insight into what it means to "pray the rosary". It discusses the meanings of each decade and the meaning behind the words of the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be. This book also provides helpful tips on how to minimize distraction and faithfully pray the rosary every day. I enjoyed this book.

If you want to know about the Rosary; whether Catholic or just curious, this is a great book. There are many books that this Saint has written about Mary, the Mother of Jesus. He devoted his priestly life to her. There are four great books written on him with eyewitness accounts. The fifth one is written in the late 1900's on his spirituality, sociology, and psychological aspects. All are very fascinating.This book The Secret of the Rosary; as well as the other books he has written are so needed in today's world. Catholics bring out your beautiful Blessed Rosaries and begin saying them faithfully.Remember what you promise to God, He holds you to every word come Judgement Day. Don't break your promises. Don't swear to God unless you absolutely mean it, for He takes you at your very word without all the adjectives and adverbs that confuse the human tongue and mind.

I thought this book will bore me but instead I was captivated by it. This is a simple yet powerful book that explains the devotion to the holy rosary, its history, promises, etc. It also gives the readers an instruction on how to pray the rosary that opens up the faithful to the merits of heaven.

I will not attempt to review this classic work but rather this new edition from Catholic Book Publishers. Fantastic idea to issue an edition of this book in their attractive and durable leather-like binding. Since this is a book many people go back to over the years, it makes sense to offer a rugged edition with ribbon.

This is an amazing book that can change your life. It is one of the several books by St. Louis de Montfort on the rosary that when taken together comprise one of the most thorough explanations of how to live a Marian life and love the Mother of God. As for this product, it is a large pocket size. Think cargo pocket. The cover is beautiful and the pages are thick, easy to turn and the print is easy on the eyes. I love the books that TAN is putting out in this format.

This great work has increased my faith and trust in the Mercy of God and in our Blessed Mother, Mary. I have joined the Confraternity of the Rosary through the Dominicans and pledge to say at least five decades daily. It,s amazing how faith, hope, trust, belief and love and grow. I don't ever want to lose any of that. May God bless those who understand what I am trying to say.

This 3 star review is for the Catholic Book Publishing blue flexcover - not for de Montfort's classic work (which deserves 5 stars). I have deducted stars because the language has been modernized (and seems a little bland), and CPB has added an appendix to this edition, containing the Luminous Mysteries, I may be in the minority, but it drives me crazy when a publisher adds to or alters a classic work. I realize they meant well, but de Montfort's work did not need to be improved upon. Otherwise it's a lovely little book. If you want the updated language and don't mind having the Luminous Mysteries added to a work which did not originally contain them, you will like the CPB edition. If you want an edition that hasn't been tampered with, TAN has a flexcover edition which uses traditional language and hasn't been tampered with..

This book is fantastic. This is a must for anyone who utilizes the Holy Rosary. Even if you have been praying to the Holy Rosary for years, you will learn something that is beneficial. I would also recommend this to anyone before they pray to the Holy Rosary, to ensure they are doing it correctly.

A really good, thought-provoking book. I disagree with a previous reviewer who condemned all changes in the way the rosary is said since the writing of this book. The Catholic Church is constantly open to the Holy Spirit. Changes which enhance worship are the result. Personally I love the Luminous Mysteries. I also love the Fatima Prayer, which is also not part of the original rosary. It was interesting to see that the Salve Regina also did not form part of the rosary at the time of writing. That said, Saint Louis de Montfort is very interesting on the subject of many aspects of the rosay. For example of the Hail Mary. I did not know that the purpose of the first three Hail Marys was to meditate on the Holy Trinity (one Person for each bead). I find the attitude of the collection of indulgences a bit hard to take. The Church has moved away (at least in my experience) from such frantic pursuit of indulgences. I enjoyed the book enough to read it twice immediately. My saying of the rosary has been influenced and is now more prayerful than before.

The book itself needs no review, it is amazing. I have just received the new copy released in October 2017, with blue imitation leather cover - this is a beautiful copy of the book. The cover is first class and better than my expensive goatskin bible covers - soft to hold and flexible. The printing is first class, the font size is perfect - slightly bigger than a novel but not large print, so easy to read under most conditions. The pictures inside are really nice and add value to the book.

This is an amazing book, can't recommend it enough! Really teaches you the importance of the rosary and to get off you back side and actually pray it. Text is nice and big and easy to read, chapters aren't long, so can read a quick chapter each day. It does include the added luminous mysteries as a supplement at the end of the book, not sure about this being a traditionalist, but then again it's just a supplement so hey, can be easily bypassed if wished.

An excellent book giving the reader a deep love and respect for the Holy Rosary. It may feel dated at times but stick with it. A great chapter close to the end of the book on how to meditate on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary and prevent distraction while saying it. As I say it's "worth reading".

Love it, the blue imitation leather cover feels good, and the pictures throughout are really nice.It is beautifully put together. This book is a must have classic , in a handy size , lovely layout. Would be great as a gift too.
