Heavy duty - does the job quite well!
This will last a lifetime, that's for sure. Does a great job of making perfectly shaped French fries. If it's not mounted, it is a little awkward to find a good position to muscle the potato through, because one hand is on the lever and the other is holding the device - and it does take some strength (I'm a fit male) if the potato is really hard (tip: Microwave a hard russet for about a minute first to soften it up, then it pushes right through! The little red potatoes I pushed through were a breeze, no strength needed, really. Cut russets in half before pushing through), but there's no magic wand to wave when it comes to manually pushing a potato through a cutter - it is what it is. In comparing it's length, ratios for leverage, etc., with other makes, I can't imagine there being a superior one out there. This is it. The size it is is the size it needs to be to be as efficient as it is. It is well worth the price, if you're serious about making your own fries often. Very simple to remove the two parts to clean them, though the plastic piece can be a little prickly to clean. There is a brush included (which we didn't get, but a quick email to the maker fixed that), so I found that using a knife to get into the crevices is helpful. Others say the brush works well, so I'm glad one is forthcoming. Highly recommend. Edited to say: This review was on the 3/8" cutter. I just got a 1/2" cutter to use with it, and the difference in ease of pushing the potato through is huge - so much easier with the 1/2" to push a potato through - which makes total sense, so take that into consideration when choosing the cutting-hole size.

Does noooooot work for sweet potatoes at all
Ir will not work for sweet potatoes.. I tried cutting them and everything they will not go through it gets jammed. Havenโt tried regular potatoโs yet! Very sturdy and good quality just wish sweet potatoes were easier to cut with it

Others may look similar but this is the real deal!
There are several things that set this above the other "green body" French fry cutters. The suction cups are a better quality that cradle the aluminum feet. The attachments for the feet and the cutter heads are not wing nuts they are barrel nuts that are easier to use. The arm that goes between the handle and the pusher head is one piece aluminum not two piece thin metal. There is an easy lock for the pusher head that just turns to release the plastic pusher head for easy cleaning. The stainless steel trough (under the potato) slides out for easy cleaning. I have found that if I center the potato in the center of the cutting head rather than setting it on the stainless steel "V" tray, the potato cuts easier and the potato skins don't clog the edges of the cutting head making it easier to clean the head. I purchased both the 1/2" and 1/4" heads but I use the included 3/8" and 1/2" the most. I would highly recommend this cutter as it works very well and is a good value for the price.

Surdy fry cutter. Easy to clean.
This fry cutter glides tight through potatoes. If you are using unpeeled potatoes, a bit of peel might get wedged in the corners of the blades. I use a tooth pick to get to that. Sweet potatoes requite some strength. I still hand cut sweet potatoes, because I don't want to damage my awesome fry cutter. With the insane cost of frozen, oven fries now, this purchase is a no brainer. The suction cups work reasonably well, but on my granite counter tops they slide around all to easily.

Great French Fry Cutter
Great French Fry Cutter. Great purchase! We love homemade french fries. With this french fry cutter, I can cut a whole bunch of potatoes in minutes, which saves us a lot of time. The suction cups are strong lightly set the cutter on the counter and it sticks! Work very well. I love eating fries and I got so tired of chopping potatoes so I'm so glad I bought this. Definitely recommend this to people who love eating fries๏ผ๏ผ

Finally bought one
I'll admit, I've had this item in my cart more times than I could count. I kept thinking to myself "Do I REALLY need an $80 fry cutter?" Then it happened. One day while dining out my daughter asked to sub her potato chips for french fries. Once we got the bill we realized they upcharged us over $6.00 for french fries! That was it for me, I told my husband I'm done paying exorbitant restaurant prices and from now on we're eating at home. It took some time to convince my husband we needed this fry cutter. He's stubborn when it comes to the mighty dollar, and I can't blame him. With the cost of inflation you'd have to be living under a rock not to notice how expensive things have gotten. After seeing the $6.00 fry upcharge I think that helped the cause. We enjoy fries but all the store brands are loaded with oil and chemicals. I tried cutting regular potatoes with a knife, and that does work, but I could never get them the same size. Half of them would cook faster than the others and it was never a great experience. I decided to go ahead and order this bad boy and give it a go. I scrubbed a couple of organic potatoes, threw them in the slicer and BAM, freshly cut french fries in seconds. I stay away from oil so I just threw a little salt on mine and air fried them for 15 minutes. They all came out perfect. I bet they would be great if you deep fried them. Next I'll try sweet potatoes and see how they cook up. Is this machine perfect...no. There's a couple of things like the plastic pusher that was kind of hard to get off to wash. It's also hard to get the potato through the slicer. You have to put some muscle behind it. If you have arthritis I could see this being a problem for you. It's also large, so if you have little storage space then keep that in mind. I'm still trying to figure out where to store mine. From what I can tell it's really well built and hope it lasts for years because it wasn't cheap. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. It's definitely a splurge item but it's nice to have when you're in the mood for some fries. The best part about this is I never have to leave my house, don't have to encounter about terrible service and I don't have to worry about leaving a tip. Here's a photo of my lion's mane mushroom burger and organic fries. I made 4 servings of lion's mane burgers and organic fries for under $20! The machine is saving us money already.

Wonderful products!
Really great french fry cutter. I've had several potato cutters over the years and this is by far the best, very user friendly, easy assembling, very sturdy, and very easy to clean. My kids used it to slice apples/pears/carrots and much more, they turned lots of their fruits to finger foods, as the results , they consume more fruits and vegetables. This machine definitely reach restaurant quality.

Robust and easier to use
I had bought a cheaper, you know the ones, Chinese made and likes to eat your fingers, the blades had started to bend after rhe 2nd use too, I stamped on that nasty one and bought this beauty. Gonna last that's for sure. This one takes much longer veggies and cuts beautifully, still needs some pressure but that long arm helps. You love your fries then go for it.
