Nice
Nice, sturdy just the right size, mostly easy to use, the instructions had no words and were basically useless. I just played with it until I figured most of it out. I plan on using it for my camera and en Plein air.

Very solid.
Solid one and work as expected. We use it to take the photo of the milkyway with 15 seconds explosure. The sturdy leg makes sure the image is clear.

Unfortunate
I absolutely enjoyed using this equipment. Unfortunately, I have to return it after only three uses. 6 hours of use. The threads on the center piece gave out and my camera hit the ground. On the top of its body, causing damage. After inspecting “WTH” just happened to my equipment, I feel if the attachment/securing bolt was just a little bit longer, to use the full amount of threads, than maybe I would still be using it right now. The unfortunate incident, didn’t change my mind on how much I was impressed by the quality of this product. But after the damage to my camera and realizing that the threads sheared, I am going to have to continue with searching for another tripod. I would in fact recommend it, definitely. Very sturdy and I truly had fun using it for only such a short, and unfortunate amount of time.

Very Nice but has vibration
This tripod is extremely versatile but the shortfall of this unit is that it is not completely stable in that it allows vibration. This vibration comes as a side affect of the versatility. So you need to weigh it in on your purpose. It fits 98% of my needs as I don’t do long exposure very often and when I do, I can still use the tripod in a more stable configuration. I really like the markings and locks on the legs. This tripod is made very well and should last me a very long time. It’s not too bulky to travel either but is longer than typical travel pods. Came with a nice carrying bag too. Very pleased with it.

Awesome tripod
I bought this tripod to replace one I've been using since 1993. When I unboxed it I was very impressed with the build quality. It is extremely smooth to articulate. The tripod feels well made and it easily holds the weight of my DSLR with my heaviest lens. I was a little concerned about the quality because of some of the negative reviews but my concern is now replace with joy. I couldn't be happier about making this purchase. If you are still debating on ordering this I wouldn't hesitate. Remember that there will always be defective units leaving warehouses no matter the product. Quality control is not perfect so eventually someone will get a bad one. Don't let that discourage you. The tripod is very sturdy and incredibly smooth to adjust. I have no doubt that if my last tripod lasted 27 years then I likely won't need to replace this for a very long time. That is of course unless my wife gets her hands on it like the last one.

Performed better than expected.
I am pleased with the photographs taken using this tripod. I paired it with a Nikon Coolpix p900 and must say the difference is amazing. I recommend, having used indoors and outdoors.

Some basic features make this hard to love
I was really excited about this tripod as it is my first higher end tripod as I am getting more serious with my photography. The build quality seems really great and I love the versatility of the center column. However, one of the biggest draw backs that may end up making me hate the tripod is the “half” lock (for lack of a better term) position for the legs. When you lock the legs out to 20 degrees, they can still move in to zero, so they are only locked out from going wider. So say you have them out at 40 degrees or wider even, they have the entire motion they can slide in. Once you’ve got everything stable and set not a big deal, but if you are adjusting and moving the center column around to get your camera in the right position, in particular for macro photography then those legs are going to be moving all in and out and won’t be stable like you need them to be. Extremely frustrating, especially if you are having to change the center column a few times to get different angles. They really should have made the legs so that they could be fully locked out in one position. I was also a little hesitant about any tripod with twist legs, but the way these were advertised it’s just a quarter twist and the lock “clicks” into place when locked. Well, no, it doesn’t, it’s just as tight as it will go. Already had issues with the legs not staying in the “lock” position and starting to slide down as I was trying to adjust the camera. I’d still prefer the clip locks so I know they are closed and so they are less likely to get bumped into an unlocked position while adjusting the tripod. Last negative point, I was extremely excited about the ALTA Link, “3/8 thread bonus connection for any accessory, such as a reflector, articulated or flexible arms, and much more”. Unfortunately I didn’t look at the thread size of those accessories until after getting the tripod. TRY finding an articulated arm with a 3/8” thread... Vanguard doesn’t even sell accessories that fit it, which seems a little ridiculous to me. Maybe there is some other user of the tripod that the 3/8” works for besides camera equipment, but otherwise it is frustrating that I have to buy an adapter to use any accessories on this when they could’ve made it a 1/4” thread. While small, I paid a good chunk of money for this tripod, and the details matter. That said, it does seem like the materials used are solid, the ball head so far works well. I’m hoping after I get some more use out of it and become more accustomed to some of the instabilities and how to counteract them that it will still be a good fit as I do really like the versatility the center column allows compared to others.

Versatile Tripod
This tripod is very sturdy and easy to set up quickly. The multiple articulations at the head make it very usable for several types of photography. I appreciate the overall height as well - taller than many similar tripods on the market.

Was a gift for my mother's birthday however the box had pictures and branding all over it so it was a dead giveaway when my mother answered the door, other than that though, the delivery was on time. Overall quality seems very good, would recommend.

This is an excellent tripod for heavy DSLRs and lenses. The legs are firm and very secure and the ballhead is rugged and solid. The knobs and levers have to be correctly used and tightened as it is a very versatile piece of equipment. The central column can be tilted and used in various angles and holds the camera very firmly. Al in all, an excellent tripod.

This tripod is very sturdy, super adjustable, and operates smoothly enough. It seems like a good quality to pair with a $1000 camera and lens setup. It's not as stable as it could possibly be, but I can get some pretty nice shots of the moon and distant skyscrapers at 300 mm with it, so it's certainly pretty good. Overall, it's a pretty great value.
