This special two-disc DVD presentation of Jimi Hendrix: Live at Woodstock stands as the definitive record of one of Jimi's most celebrated performances. This deluxe set features all of the existing film footage from Jimi's unforgettable August 1969 Woodstock concert newly re-edited and presented uninterrupted and in it's original performance sequence. Live at Woodstock includes never-before-seen versions of "Foxey Lady," "Message to Love," "Hey Joe," "Spanish Castle Magic," and "Lover Man," and an all-new 5.1 and 2.0 stereo soundtrack mixed by Eddie Kramer, Jimi's original studio engineer.

Authoring defect on "A Second Look"
I already owned and enjoyed this program on the 2-DVD set, and since I got a Blu-Ray player earlier this year, I decided to buy the(now-deleted) Universal Music Blu-Ray edition, since it can now be had very cheaply, due to the rights changeover of the Hendrix catalogue and the BLu-Ray reissue via Sony Music. While the main program(1080i video with DTS-HD Master Audio) does have indeed have slightly better sound and picture than the DVD edition, I should note that the supplemental section "A Second Look"(a combination of crude black & white home video footage and alternate color film footage from the Warner Bros. film crew) actually looks much worse here than on the standard DVD, with a much smearier, choppier, shakier look on both vertical and horizontal movement. This affects both the B & W and color parts of "A Second Look". The Blu-Ray presents this supplemental program at 480p resolution which should have been identical in quality to the DVD, not markedly worse. I guess I'll hold onto my DVD edition, and watch the main program from the Blu-Ray disc, and watch "a Second Look" from the DVD edition. I suspect a Blu-Ray authoring defect. I don't know if this is corrected on the new Sony Blu-Ray edition. If you want to pick up a deleted Universal Music edition cheaply, I would say go with the DVD edition. The authoring defect on Universal's Blu-Ray edition means that I can't recommend it wholeheartedly. Yes, the Blu-Ray's audio quality is better than the DVD, but even on the main program(mastered satisfactorily for this Blu-Ray disc), the picture is only a modest improvement over the DVD.

Jimi Hendrix: Live at Woodstock? Gold!
A classic performance with Jimi at his best! Disc 2 is a never-before-seen (by me anyway) black and white sort of home camera behind the scenes version of his entire appearance. The footage is professional grade.Very nice indeed. Jimi at Woodstock is an experience for those who wonder how good he was and a trip down memory lane for us who know. This double disc is a must for any music lover who wants a record of just how music got to where it is today. 5 very high stars!

Fan?
A must for any true Hendrix fan. I was there but left a day before Jimi, I was soaked to the bone had been there a week and man I regret it when I watch this. To think he'd be gone in just over a year. Again, if you love Jimi you will enjoy this selection.

Great!
Started a little slow, but Jimi was just getting warmed up. Then... Holy moley, I guess I had forgotten what a phenom Hendrix really was! Fantastic! Some interesting interviews as well.
