Polish is not an easy language to learn when your native language is English because of its grammatical structures and difficult pronunciations brought about by long words with not much in the way of vowels. Because of this, a cookie cutter approach to teaching the language lacks a lot of what you need. Children learn by associating words with their experiences and they spend the first 4-5 years of their lives doing this before learning things like reading and writing. As an adult learner however, you're learning all three at once, so you're not truly "learning a new language the same way you learned your first". And because of that, a cookie cutter approach cannot be effectively used with a language like Polish. Seriously Rosetta Stone, okulary przeciwsłoneczne is not a "one of the first lessons" kind of word. Yes sunglasses are a very common object used by most people and used often, but making the beginner pronounce, read and write okulary przeciwsłoneczne as one of the first lessons is sort insane. Also, as you progress thru the system, you are eventually taught past and future tense which is also done thru pictures alone. This requires you to study the pictures presented and figure out what is going on and when. The system is impatient and doesn't give you enough time to do this and formulate your sentence. Then it beeps at you as you are still stumbling thru, prompting you to repeat. If there's a pause button to hit so you can take that time, I have't found it. This, I think, is the most frustrating. I recommend if you use this system, that you do not use it alone. Find some other sources to learn from as well. Pick up a book that explains grammar, a CD that focuses on word practice, or you may want to try duolingo.
