Phoenicians are hiking winners with this book in hand! Found two unknown hikes close to my home. Valley is broken into sections for easy choices, and charts offer great, and accurate, cross referencing. Accommodates all skill levels, even trails for wheelchairs. I appreciate the author's comments on what can be seen and what you should look out for. Directions, maps and distances accompany each trail description and the reader will be wise to heed the hiking tips in the front of the book. You don't have to drive far to find a good hike. This is a great gift for desert hiking friends.

A great guide to help hit up some hikes. What I particularly liked was it provided GPS coordinates for each trail head, really taking the guess work out of where to park.

I love this book! I refer to it often and have bought several as gifts for my hiking friends. There are several different hiking level categories from easy to hard, with information on each trail and what to look for along the way. It covers local trails within the cities of Phoenix and Glendale, and day trip hikes to nearby parks and conservation centers.

This book gives insightful reviews on difficulty of trials as well as visual scenery. It is acurate in accessibility of trails as well. The author gives a keen insight into what a hiker will experience, and I recommend every avid, or casual explorer, to pick this book up. This is a must if you want to explore the beautiful outdoors of Arizona.

This is the best city hiking book I have come across. The writer gives you great insight into each of the hikes and you can tell she has actually been there. I really enjoyed her writing style and appreciated the creative descriptions of the various levels ("easy" to butt kicker"). This book been really helpful for me to learn about hikes nearby my home that I can do after work or with my family. Definitely reccommend!

Visitors and natives will appreciate all the great options Menconi gave us. Details included will certainly help hikers choose an appropriate outing for their level of ability and the weather. It's so nice to see a book that feels like the author's actually been there and knows what she's talking about. It's actually fun to read!

I am an avid hiker who owns many hiking books and this one definitely stands out. Along with the technical details, Lilia adds a nice personal touch to each hike. With 81 trails, this book would be good for the experienced hiker as well as beginners. Well written and very informative!!

I like all the tips that tell you things along the lines of "it may look like a trail veers off to the left after the water tank, but stay to the right" which is always helpful on a trail you haven't done before.
