I have a spooky horse that has pulled the tie off the trailer, a trailer that was not even mine mind you. I decided to get this for my spooky boy. It works he has pulled on it to graze and it has released but that's okay because I'd rather him wander a few feet than have him hog tied and down on the ground or worse. (which has happened to one of the horses in the barn while tied on a low tie ring) I use 12ft yacht rope or clinician lead with this and it works fine. This will be a god send in winter, as we use tarps to cover the hay and said tarps tend to flap. I think I'm going to buy more

I use these between the wall and the rope for my cross ties and JUST yesterday this saved my horse from possible injury. He was standing in the cross ties when my saddle fall of the rack next to him. He was startled and jumped hard to one side and the cross tie at this device broke free and allowed him to get out of the way without injury but the other side stayed connected since he did not pull on that side. I also use these in my trailer while traveling but not in areas where braking free could cause more harm like when tied outside. Would highly recommend

I suppose it works for some horses. Mine is high energy and loves to play games. Once he figured out how to give a quick tug to release it he kept unlatching himself. Luckily he is not one to run away. He just likes to pop it open over and over again then looks for me to rehook it so he can open it again,

If you have a horse that pulls back, this is the best $12 investment you can make! They are 100% reusable and cheaper than replacing halters or lead ropes. I know there is someone out there mumbling "teach your horse not to sit back". Yup, I agree but I've got one that just isn't going to change at 23 years old, and these have changed her stable name from "Breaker of Many Halters" to "Gentle Giant at Hitch Rail".

The packaging from this shipment was awful. I ordered two "two packs". When I opened the box there was one complete two pack and one pack that was ripped leaving only one safety tie. There was no packing material or packing slip. Literally a huge box with thee ties sitting at the bottom. ANYONE would have noticed the incomplete pair. SLOPPY SHIPPING and a rip off. Other brands of safety ties have a little sleeve that slips over the connection preventing it from easily separating. Not this brand. It separates at the slightest tug of your horse, easily teaching them to pull when tied up which is not the goal here. The goal would be to break away when a horse is pulling so hard the situation becomes dangerous so they can break away. This is more of a pop away, all the horse has to do is pop their head up with the amount of force a human toddler could produce and TA-DA they are free to run off into a street.

We have been using break away cross tie straps for nearly 20 years. They are expensive and you have to buy two single straps. This tie ring is a third less in cost. It works as advertised. We have no way of knowing how long it will last.
